Nov. 14th Wednesday Part Two
Kevin and I walked up Main Street, just in awe of everything which isn’t hard to be with such a beautiful Castle up ahead of us. The Imagineers really did themselves proud we thought. The crowds were not to bad either which was good because little did we know come Friday the parks were going to get really busy! We walked up Main Street taking pictures and wishing the DLRP had Photo pass like WDW so we could get some nice pictures together but I believe that will come, with time.
Since it was about 2:30 in the afternoon we wanted to get some rides done and decided to head for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad since it looked so cool in the pictures out there on it’s own little island! It’s a favorite for us in WDW and so we couldn’t wait to ride it as I’ve read time and again that it’s actually better in Paris. Could it be? Yes it could! My goodness there was a bit that reminded me of Expedition Everest where you go though a tunnel in the dark for what seems like forever but in EE that one part is ridden facing backwards.
We managed two rides without needing fast passes as the lines were quite short. We waited about 15 minutes and then headed to Phantom Manor. This whole area of the park is really well done and next to Main Street is my favorite area in all of the Disney parks be it Anaheim or Orlando, and now Paris too! I love the music; it’s really atmospheric and just really makes the experience as you walk through Frontierland. Disney always has the best music and Kevin made sure I listened for the change over as we went from land to land because if you don’t listen, you don’t notice. It’s that subtle but a wonderful Imagineering touch.
As we walked to Phantom Manor I told Kevin the story behind it and it’s so interesting how it’s tied into the history of the town and Big Thunder as well. I was really curious as to how I would like PM compared to the Haunted Mansion. It’s hard not to compare the parks since we love WDW so much but DLRP is brilliant in its own right and we were happy about that. Just can’t help but think about the similarities and differences however as we experienced the park. We loved the Phantom Manor and it was a walk on. Kevin kept repeating the line “Entreeeee” in a spooky voice whenever we were going in somewhere; he thought that bit was a riot apparently! The music is cool and the whole bit where you go down under the graveyard was really funny and well done we thought!
The themeing outside the place to is brilliant with all it’s nooks and crannies to explore.
Poor Mary and Frank!
Next up was Pirates, a walk on and after that Indiana Jones then Buzz and Space Mountain before we found ourselves on Main Street for Candlebration
. We had missed the 4pm parade but that was okay since we had so much time to see it all. We loved Space Mountain but we both managed to bang our heads up a bit so that was a little nerve wracking as since I hadn't ridden it before I didn't know which way we were going to turn or flip over next! However, even with that it was an exciting ride! To bad it isn't a bit smoother. I loved the music and this too was pretty much a walk on
.
After the romance that is Candlebration with the snow and the lights on Main Street Kevin and I high tailed it to Annette's for some dinner. We used our vouchers and included in this was a starter, entree and dessert and fountain drink each. We ended up ordering the Avocado burger which it said on the menu was new, plus an order of nachos and onion rings along with our cokes. We could have had brownies a la mode for dessert but there was just no way and accepted coffees instead
. We liked the food and thought the restaurant had a fun atmosphere.
Afterwards we had a look around the shops in Disney Village before walking back to the Cheyenne, which by the way looked very cool in the evening lighting! We had had a brilliant first day where everything went our way including the sunny weather and we were more than happy
.
