Noticeably thinner, more flexible magic band?

My Magic Band arrived today (woohoo!) and I immediately noticed that it is much lighter and thinner (and much more comfortable) than any of my previous bands. My last one was from February of last year, so I don't know if this is a recent change? I did a quick search and found one thread that briefly mentioned it in November, so I was just putting it out there as an FYI

I was browsing at Disney Store magic bands this weekend and they had purple.

FWIW you don't have to have a MB. Other than ease with photo pass there's nothing one needs a MB for.

I got mine for a trip that starts Sunday and they are the same as my others.......but they don't bother me, so it is fine with me

They definitely are thinner and more flexible. I actually weighed them too - and they are 5 grams lighter - which doesn't seem like a lot - but you can really feel the difference. I sucked it up and bought a purple one - I can't wait for them to be free. And Disney knowing that there is such a high demand for them - I don't see them making it free any time soon when they can make $12.95 off of it

On our first trip we didn't buy the magic bands, but I'm definitely getting them for the next. It didn't bother me swiping the photopass every time, but it was a hassle having to keep up with our tickets for FP. I was also worried that we would misplace or drop a ticket because of taking them out so many times. I think I will be easier on me not having to be ticket holder all day

I handled one of the new ones for the first time last week and I like them a lot. In addition to being thinner, lighter, and more flexible, the finish of the material feels a bit smoother and softer.

I received my new bands for next week and my daughter mentioned it. We were just there for Christmas so I thought she was coo coo but I just looked at them. They are much lighter and thinner. BUT!!!! I put it on and it unsnapped VERY VERY EASILY. The old ones did not. Oh my I bet there will be lots of lost bands.

What's weird is we got one set for our 1/30 arrival, with nothing to compare it to, I thought nothing. Then we added a night on 1/29, so we got a second set (arrived two weeks after the first set). The second set is much thinner as you describe. How weird that we got a set of each?

Very much thinner. I lost my old grey haunted mansion mb and they now have a purple HM band.

Btw, went to lost and found to see if my grey one turned up. Not there, but they did have 50+ of grey mb alone from just one day from the magic kingdom!

DBF and I got customized MBs at Launch Bay - we noticed that they were a thinner material.
