For months now I have been measuring and weighing all of my food. I have been a bit of a fanatic with it all. Well the box of pasta I was using said that 2 oz. was a serving. I would measure out my 2 ozs. and it always seemed so small. It was a bit depressing actually. I couldn't believe that all those years what I thought was a serving was so far off. Well this week at the grocery story I took my next leap in nutrition and bought whole grain pasta. I was cooking it tonight and looked at the nutrition information and it is 2 oz. dry per serving!
When cooked it was around 4 ozs. of pasta or DOUBLE what I had been counting as a serving. All this time I have been shorting myself by half on my calories whenever I had pasta. My meal tonight was much more filling than usual - I wonder why?
So the moral is to really make sure you understand serving sizes when counting calories/points. You might just be shorting yourself and you can get more food.
