Not "walking", just "sliding"

Can this be done?

We have 3 contracts. Booking an 8 day Saturday - Sunday trip. At 7 months I used contract A to reserve a 2BR from Sat-Thur. Not enough points to get Fri and Sat (and they weren't there anyways).

A day later, Fri and Sat show up. Now I realize I can't use contract B or C to book them because they are still 5 days away from the 7 month mark.

I called Member Services to do the following.....Slide the reservation to Sun - Fri. Use Contract B to book original Saturday. This would just leave the 2nd Saturday not reserved. I would repeat this one more time and use Contract C to pick up the last day of our trip.

If people can walk reservations for weeks at a time, why wouldn't I be able to do this? Do I just confuse everyone?

I am not sure what you mean by not being able to use the other contracts.

if you have multiple contracts in one membership, once you hit the 7 month mark, you can use them all together.

So, when the Friday and Saturday showed up, you should have been able to modify your reservation to take all days and the system would pick up the points to finish,

But maybe thats Not what you have?

However, what you did is walking. You moved a reservation forward to get days to fall within the +7 window and then add back the days at the front end,

Nothing wrong with it at all

This is confusing to me. Why would you even need to "slide" the reservation. It seems based on what you were stating you made the initial reservation at 7 months out; therefore, no home resort priority period was utilized. You could simply use points from multiple contracts assuming they are all the same UY and simply extend the original booking to the full desired date range.

As to your sliding you could do it. However, you are hoping that no one has a WL or is faster than you at reclaiming the Saturday you opened up.

So why the heck couldn't member services help? She was nice but I feel like she may have been inexperienced (put me on hold for a long time and kept telling me I didn't have enough points).

Should I have stated this differently to the agent?

I have no idea. You are allowed to book 7 nights from the 7th month and at thst point all points are eligible. So with 3 contracts all should have been available providing they all still had points

Your points should be all usable together at 7 months UNLESS they have different use years.

I'm assuming your contracts A, B and C are totally separate membership numbers because of either being titled differently or being different use years. And that you were trying to book the additional days before their normal 7 month window opened for those days. For instance, say you have 2 separate memberships, each with enough points to book 3 days of a desired 6 day trip. At exactly 7 months, you book the first 3 days with one membership, then 3 days later book the next 3 days with the other membership. It will always be totally separate reservations, if booked with separate membership, unless you transfer points from one membership to the other, in which case, you'd need to call Member Services to book the reservation anyway. This is simply one of the pitfalls of having different membership numbers. If, on the other hand, your points were all one use year, and titled the same, they would be a single membership and effectively work as a single contract at 7 months.
