This morning I saw tickets to Orlando for $19 each way the first weekend of May on Allegiant Airlines. We like flying on Allegiant from Knoxville because its the only direct to the Orlando area, but it does fly to Sanford, which means we rent a car. Wife and I are considering flying down for the weekend (Fri night - Monday morning) but don't want to go into the parks, just chill out, do some shopping, some resort hopping and a few good meals.

Opinions on where to stay? The Dolphin is $169/night and we love the pool there. The Sheraton Vistana is $141 and the Sheraton Safari (right outside WDW) is $109/night. I typically look at Starwood first because of points there. Port Orleans/Coronado/Beach Club are all $149/night.

Thanks.

Hmm, not visiting the parks, but maybe some resort hopping. Well, with a car, you culd park at resorts for a couple of hours each for "meals", so that'd be ok. But I've no idea how they time it or anything. So something like parking at Poly and riding the Monorail to visit all resorts there might not work out.

If the Swan/Dolphin gives free parking for guests, that could work for resort hopping, since Disney transportation is a short walk away, and I personally love the Boardwalk area and access to World Showcase, so it'd be my personal choice, even over Disney moderates.

Edit: Wait, Beach Club is $149? If that's not a typo, then book it! But I have a feeling you meant CBR (Caribbean Beach Resort), in which case I stick to my previous comments. :)

I'm confused, are you going to Orlando or Sanford?

If you stay at a WDW hotel you have to rent a car. Disney will pick you up and take you back to the airport, you don't need to visit parks to get that perk. You then can hop all over the world via Disney transportation during your stay.

CBR - has recently redone the rooms and has a brand new pool with two hot tubs
CSR - used for a lot of conventions and has a business center, free wireless in the lobby and a work out area
POR - Dissers seem to like the quiet and charm of this place

I did quick wknd trip in Feb (Fri-Sun) and stayed at Pop. It was a solo trip, did not include the parks, but did include golf, DTD fun and dining. The only shopping I did was at DTD and I did very little there (Lego store for nephew, Basin for me).

Beach Club for $149 a night. :banana::banana::banana:
I would sure jump on that.
Of course I dont know how you could stand to stay at BC and not go to Epcot to eat.
