You will see tons of people using cards over the bands so you won't be alone.

I personally was always the ticket/fastpass/room key holder, so I LOVE the bands. I cannot tell you how much stress it has taken off of me to not constantly keep track of that stuff. Also, my kids are pretty far apart in age, so we split up a lot due to different interests. It is so nice to just split and not to be handing out fp's and tickets since everyone has a band. It seems like such a small thing, but it has made my life so much easier.

Just like you agree to the park terms and conditions when you enter the gates, use of the MagicBand means you agree to those as well, including the subsequent related messaging. Plus every email has an unsubscribe option, and it would only take a moment to stop receiving future emails

it says you CAN participate, but there is no option to opt out. There is no unsubscribe option in any of these emails or I would have unsubscribed a long time ago and I would not be complaining about it.

By choosing to use the cards which cannot be detected by the long-range readers you will not have the issue that you pointed out in the beginning of ride photos automatically syncing, so that would be the opt out option.

I don't think that is necessarily the case. Whether you have a card or a band, if its the RFID, it works the same for keeping the photos. Frankly, its much faster to pop your wrist at the scanner instead of dig out a card before the ride photo changes, so its definitely easier, but I've used my card pass many times successfully. Its whatever online account the card or band is tied to. I'd definitely be getting MBs for a party of 6. $12 for water resistant and always visible ticket and FP convenience is well worth it to me.

You do know you don't need a band to link your ride photos, right? And there are no picture opportunities for which you need a band...you can get a Photopass card from any photographer and that will tie your pictures to MDE. The bands will help link the ride pictures link automatically, but if you don't have a band you simply scan your ticket card (which is RFID-enabled) at the picture monitors at the end of the ride. If you're like us, you stop to take a quick peek at the picture anyway, and scanning the card only takes a second. I certainly wouldn't buy a band just for the picture issue.

We'll see how it goes the 1st day. Not hard to imagine us changing our minds and ALL getting MBs while we're there. After all the $$$ already spent, what's another $12.

I'm not sure about ToT since there is a photo station, but you can only get 7DMT video/photos with the band. There isn't a station for you to stop at to link it to a card

At what point can you request the card instead of a magic band? When you check in to your resort? I would much prefer the card over the band (I already wear a Fitbit and some bracelets... Really don't want to add more!) so this would be a great option. But I think our MBs have already shipped. Is it too late to have the option of only using the card?

You can get a card at any time during your trip.
It's not "either-or." It's "both."

That's what the lanyards they sell are for, so that each person can keep their own cards...

That is the classic definition of spam. If I wanted the photos I would have bought them.

I did not solicit them and it is advertising. And they keep on sending them over and over and over and over. Looks like spam to me.

Legally, you did solicit them when you entered the park and agreed to use the band. They didn't just pick your name out of nowhere. But you've got the fix, don't use the band, there won't be any photos for them to e-mail you about.

Oh, I see. Because you don't get to go back and retrieve your photo on a specific scanner, it automatically goes to your band account. We used to wonder how to get our photos until we looked back and found it months later. Its pretty good technology actually that it automatically keeps it for you.

Well that's just another reason to buy a $12 cute MB. Peace of mind, photo ops, convenience. Even better that ours came with our APs, but I probably would have sprung for a cutesy one if it hadn't.

Its true, if you flip it around, its so much more comfortable. We live off site, but for us APs, our MBs are the beesknees. Its so easy just to grab it and head out the door. (We keep them in the 'key bowl' right by the door, with our keys, so we can grab and go at all times. No tix check.) Also, my husband HATES watches, etc, but he used his MB 99% of the time too.

We actually leave a set of MB's in each of our cars just in case the mood strikes us. However, I still prefer to just use my flat AP.

It upsets me that there is no way to shut off the spam. How rude.

There was no unsubscribe links on any of the dozens of spam I got from them. They must have finally heard my complaints and added it.
