So where are the neatest, best, funnest places to eat in and around DisneyLand, CA and Anaheim??? There will be 2 adults and 3 kids--11,9,6

Thanks

If you have transportation, you can always try YELP.com. We always look there to find where to eat when we travel. It means we avoid the chain restaurants and eat at the places where locals eat. Or places that are worth driving to. We love the Original Pancake House. Their apple pancake is soooo good.

I really love Mimi's which is right across from the Howard Johnson (and therefore across from DL). The atmosphere is very fun and family friendly and the food is great. They have a good menu selection, something for everyone. It is a chain, but there isn't one near me so I love to go there every time I visit DL.

We liked Mimis Cafe right next to the Howard Johnson. The food was great, big portions, they were very nice and split up our meals for us. Because there was to much food to feed one person. Prices were very reasonable. And for fun the Rain Forest cafe in Downtown Disney. It was very cool. My kids loved it.

Outside DLR, we like Mimi's Cafe.

Inside the DLR, we like Storyteller's Cafe, Whitewater Snacks, Blue Bayou, and Cafe Orleans.

Mmmmm if you like sea food then about 10 min by taxi down the road is Joes Crab Shack. OHMY so good! And they now just opend a Bubba Gumps on Katella and thats fantastic too. They have one in the Universal Studios City Walk and we used to go to that one, but they JUST opened up a brand new one in Anaheim. :thumbsup2 Bubba Gumps is to the theme of Forest Gump.

There's a Joe's Crab Shack near DL? :yay: I'll have to keep a note of that and maybe stop in there for dinner some night. ;)

We went to one in LBV in Orlando in October 2006 - delicious! :goodvibes

Joe's is that close?? Ok, I know where we will eat this weekend. LOL Bubba Gump is good...and a lot of fun. We also really like the Rainforest Cafe in DTD.
Blue Bayou in DL is good too. Pricey but good!

We liked rain forest cafe in downtown disney. The atmosphere made us laugh. It really is like you're eating in the rain forest, good fun, good food, good service, long wait so make a reservation.

My kids are close in age to yours. Their favorite spots were Goofy's Kitchen, and Cafe Orleans. I have heard repeatedly wonderful things about Rainforest in DTD--definitely have to try that next trip!

We all loved Goofy's Kitchen & the Blue Bayou. My kids were 6 & 8 at the time.

We went to Minnie & Friend's Breakfast in DL and it's a great place to catch a lot of characters who take pics and sign autograph books. This way, you have more time to go on rides instead of chasing down the characters around the park. And the food is delicious!!! I just made priority seating reservations for our trip in Feb. There is also a Claim Jumpers in the area, about a 10 minute drive, and they have yummy comfort food and huge portions, not to mention the biggest chocolate cake I've ever seen:worship:

Rainforest Cafe is always fun. The decor and occasional live jazz at the Jazz Kitchen is great (if you go, order the Bananas Foster, which they finish preparing next to your table [if they aren't afraid of fire, your kids will love it when they torch the alcohol]). If you have access to a car, I would try to make reservations at either Medieval Times or Pirates Dinner Adventure (depending on if your kids like knights and jousting or pirates and swordfights better).

If you like mexican food AND you have a car, I highly recommend a chain called El Torito GRILL. They have a location in Anaheim at 1801 E. Katella Ave, corner of Katella and State College Blvd. Take Katella Ave eastbound, about 1.5 mile east of Harbor Blvd.

My wife and I lived in LA for several years in the 90's and we lived less than half a mile from a different El Torito Grill location. We both love the menu and every time we have returned to LA to visit friends we make a point to stop at one of their locations. They serve freshly made tortillas as appetizers and I could eat about 10 of those on every visit.

Note that El Torito GRILL is part of a larger chain called El Torito mexican restaurants. Don't confuse the two chains as being the same. They do NOT have the same menus.

Oooh, the Pirate thing sounds great! Was it too scary for kids? That sounds fantastic! We've done character meals in the past - this seems like a fun alternative AND we wouldn't have to take park times!

I've yet to do the Pirate one, but the Medieval one wasn't scary at all when I was a young kid. It was a lot of fun though.
