Not to alarm, but......

guess the big worry is no longer about the little kid sticking his finger in the pudding at Chef Mickey's...

Ewww...now that is scary....

I am hesitant with buffets anyway after just seeing people touch things and put them back. Who knows if they washed their hands when they used the bathroom?

But to read this... its not as if there is someone looking over the buffet all the time. It would be relatively easy to slip something in with the salad, soup, etc.

But the odds of it happening at the salad bar/buffet that YOU are eating at must be pretty slim.
Plus which, if it even happens at all----

This could also happen with restaurant-served food (not a buffet).... wouldn't it be easier to poison food behind the scenes in the kitchen where the food isn't being out in the public?

There was a cult group that did this in Oregon in 1984, they contaminated salad bars in local restaurants with salmonella. They wanted to take over the county government and intended to make the citizens sick so they couldn't go vote, and their candidate would win the election. Made a bunch of people sick but fortunately they didn't kill anyone. And they still lost the election.

Obviously you should always stay aware of your surroundings, but...

I'm a firm believer that when it's your time, it's your time regardless of how careful you are.

As the Brits say... Keep calm and carry on. Truly the only way to live.

Are you kidding???? Never underestimate the power of terrorism. Nothing surprises me anymore....Leaving near Manhattan, as well as VERY close to the power plant, I try not to live in fear, but think of everything that WE as citizens don't know. Sometimes, ignorance is bliss

I'm probably more concern about where peoples hands have been then being poisoned.

If this becomes a big enough problem I guess the Department of Homeland Security will create a new BSA (buffet security administration), then dispatch anatomy sensitive body scanners and mandatory pat-downs at the entrance before we can partake of the buffet tables. :lmao:

I try not to let things like this put "fear" in me because if you really thought about it, basically anywhere you go there is the potential for serious harm. But you can't and shouldn't stay home your life due to fear that the chance of something can happen

BLTLDZ:

No, I wasn't kidding at all. As TheTravelingcarters so well says, you can't live in fear all the time and not do anything except stay at home.

And we did the salad bar at Ruby Tuesday's last night with no issues!!

THIS! People staying locked in their homes is EXACTLY what terrorists want. Their aim is to disrupt life as we know it. I live in New York, and am always in the theatre district. I happened to not be the night of the attempted bombing, but the next day and night? I was all about getting out there and showing that they're not going to disrupt my life.

As I said before, when it's your time, it's your time. That's what I told friends who were afraid to get on the subway after the Times Square thing - you can avoid the subway, but if it's your time, something else will happen.
