we are going away for a few days and staying in a hotel that is ok with us bringing a grill. you know, those flat surfaced machines that i only cook pancakes on!!!

so heres the deal...what other meals can you prepare on a grill? i was thinking lunch could be grilled cheese sandwiches. but what else?

I love my griddle!! you can make eggs and bacon and hash browns! fry up some ham or fish.. I've never tried but I bet you can even cook burgers on it!

If you can get a Foreman style grill that has both a flat griddle and "striped" grill side, you can do alot of different items with that. Grilled cheese, eggs, fried potatoes, burgers, steak, chicken, pannini style sandwiches, french toast, pancakes, etc.

Basically anything you could do in a fry pan, you can do on this.

If it's like an electric skillet, you could always get a bag of that frozen skillet stir-fry stuff that comes with the meat in it. We've made that before when we were staying in one of those extended-stay hotel places.

OMG - please - be considerate of others in the hotel, do NOT cook greasy or stinky food on that grill - no fish, no bacon, etc. And tip the housekeeper who is going to have to clean up a mess that goes above and beyond that of regular guests.

i was thinking lunches only. pancakes one day. grilled cheese the next. for dinner we might have soup in the microwave fresh buns and some turkey peperoni sticks. breakfast in our house is always cereal!

i was also thinking turkey hotdogs. no smell to those.

i wouldnt do anything that smells

You can cook almost anything on an electric griddle that you can cook in a skillet or on a grill. Almost. Eggs can be challenging, but it is possible.

One time when we moved--I think I was about 12--we cooked on an electric griddle and in a popcorn maker (was more like a hot plate with a pan on it than the ones they make now, but no temperature control) for about four months until the house was wired for 220v! My mother was quite inventive! *LOL*

Why would you assume that the OP is not going to clean up her own "mess" from using a grill? How is her "stinky" food any worse than the smell of cigarette or cigar smoke that might be offensive to others?

Cooking smells in a hotel that does not have cooking appliances provided IS just as offensive as smoke. I don't stay in hotels that have smoking rooms. If I am in a hotel that doesn't have kitchenettes or kitchens, I do not expect to have to smell cooking odors from fish or from meat grease. If they are fixing meals in the room, there is more trash and more mess, period. Where's the grease going to go?

But hey, who cares if I'm inconsiderate of other guests as long as I save money and get what I want.

on our last Girl Scout camping trip we used my grill like that to make quesadillas- I bought precooked chicken breast cubes, and we used those and cheese to make quesadillas. The chicken breast was frozen when we left home, but had thawed in the ice chest before we ate it. They were so yummy with some sour cream and packaged guacamole! We were outside on a picnic table, so I don't know how much smell there was, but I wouldn't think too much.

If you don't have a kitchen or kitchenette in your hotel room, you really shouldn't be cooking in the hotel.

Eggs on a griddle pan are quite easy if you just do them over easy or sunny side up. We do them that way all the time.

Speaking of eggs - how about french toast - very tasty, nutritious and really easy on a griddle. And to avoid the whole spice thing, just use pre-spiced bread. To add a little tang to the beaten eggs and milk you can add a dollop of orange juice (got this ingredient from emeril)
