Not sure $149 Disney After Hrs event is doing well... (ETA: reviews in 1st post)

I checked around 8:10pm and tickets were still available for sale. It will be interesting to see photos from tonight's event.

Maybe the plan all along was to give this away? Kind of like when cosmetics companies give you a $500 "value" gift bag with a $20 purchase.

Costs them no more than regular late hours, and they sprinkle tons of pixie dust! If a few people pay, it's a bonus.

I don't know... maybe it's just me, but I think I have enough real challenges in life and in planning a Disney trip with uncertainty abounding, that I can't muster any energy to worry about cuts in hours that they MIGHT make.

I don't have a good enough crystal ball... or magic 8 ball...
Exactly!

Go back a few pages and I think there are many reasons posited for Disney doing this. Not sure what's hilarious.

I've read the entire thread.

Sorry, I know not everyone shares my sarcasm. I just find all these free tickets to be a bit ironic after the ire this event has caused on these boards.

I try to find humor in life as much as possible :)

I think it's interesting they chose AOA. Most of those guests really aren't the target market. I would see target market as small groups of adults only. Yet AOA is mostly family suites. Standard rooms are a very small part of their rooms available. People with small kids aren't likely to stay out late enough to fully enjoy it, nor would they be as willing to buy it at a future date (would require more $$$$ for their larger group).

Maybe because they know most won't be able to go - limit the bad press of people wanting the feebie but not getting it? I don't know. But I don't think it bodes well for this continuing. A second night of freebies when many of their upsale events sell out.

Did they ever start the EMM or are those on hold? I haven't seen anything on them.

I'm not in the active stages of planning a trip right now. I think there's a really different outlook and mindset between people who are in the busy planning stages, working out details, trying to put all the shifting puzzle pieces together and those of us who are currently just WDW armchair quarterbacks reading DIS for a Disney fix and thinking more about the hypotheticals.

I know when I WAS actively planning, I got fairly tired of negativity and speculation mixed into threads where I was more in search of planning facts and a heads up on solid news. (I was knee deep in the "I hate new FP+, it will suck for everybody, you're a fool if you don't think so" period, as opposed to this new era of"Disney is overcharging and under-delivering, you're a fool if you don't think so")

I don't think anyone is a fool in either case, but I can sometimes take it personally when something I like or decide to pay for is being criticized - it can feel like an attack on my brains or judgement. Since I'm not planning and have no dog in this fight, it's easier to focus on the critical/analytical instead of the magical and it comes off negative. Just people coming at everything from a different angle, I think.

I believe the first date for those has been next week (26th?) from the get-go.

We're here and staying at Pop. Was super hoping for a freebie tonight - so close, and yet so far!

Does anyone know how the AoA guests were notified?

I'm guessing numbers were so low, they might not have wanted those who bought tickets to feel like suckers?

Thanks! We got no such pixie dust... but we did get an awesome room location, so I have no complaints :-)

I'm staying in AOA in a suite June 5-10 and would love a freebie night! The youngest in our room is 17 years old.

Who would lay out $149 a ticket when there are reports of random freebies?

While I wouldn't, people that really want to do it but don't want to take the chance. Or people that have much higher income than my middle class family. While $750 for my family wouldn't happen, there are many people out there that have the income that this doesn't bother them. I'm sure there are plenty of wealthy people at Disney every day of the year.

I doubt they keep this if they have to keep giving it away. However, it's still way to early to tell.
