Is it worth the expense?
It's on for our very last night (we're at the end of Sept) and I think I saw the cost being for the four of us around $140.
What can we expect? Are the rides still open? Would the kids bring their own costumes?
Any details you can provide would be most welcome!!

It is worth the cost and then some, with the fireworks being the best I've ever seen at WDW!!!
When we were there in mid Oct 06 all of the rides were walk-ons and the lines for candy and characters were short!
My only concern is, it's your last day! The party goes till 1230am so if you have an early flight it might be a little tough getting up.
Even though we spent other days/nights at the MK it had a totally different feeling with the decorations and music.
The CM's at the HM are probably the best part of the party. They were in full make up, and looked like the walking dead. Not only did they look great they acted creepy too!
The kids and you are welcome to dress up but if your not, you won't feel out of place.
As for the rides, I think all of them are open. I'll look at my map and get back to you.
It seemed hard to find a place to eat after 7ish so try to eat before then, and just snack after.
IMHO it's really worth the money even though you've just spent alot of money on a vacation already.

it's definetly worth going. We've been twice. That being said I can't see us going again.

I think it is worth the money, even though we won't do it again. It was awesome time, but once was enough for me. My only problem with it wasn't too do with Disney but with some of the parents at the photo ops.:headache: Really the only time during the trip I ran into truly rude people. I mean come on it's not a photo shoot for a magazine.:rolleyes2

We did dress up a little, did some devil horns and a couple of halloween ties for me and hubby, daughter had on a black shirt, a pink skort, with cats ears and tail, and some whiskers on her face. We put a pirates eye patch on our son with a belt and sword, and an orange shirt with black shorts. We didn't want to lug around costumes, or have too much make up on our face. Our son was tired and not interested in the rides so that really sucked.

You will have a great time!!

We've done it twice and would do it again. Kids loved trick or treating and being in costume in the world - they thought riding the rides at night was pretty darn cool too. My kids were 7 and 12yo (were 5 and 10 the first time we did it which made it easier to be there so late.

Fireworks and parade alone were worth the money IMO!!

I think it is the best event at DisneyWorld. The parade and fireworks alone are worth the admission price. We took our DS when he was 3 months last Oct and we all dressed up.

The parade is incredible too!! All the villans come out and it is started off by the headless horseman!!! Amazing and totally worth the money!!

It is by far, hands down Disneys best! We have done MVMCP too and it is not as good as the Halloween party. The fireworks and parade are out of this world!

I can't get the song out of my head! (Boo to you) We are palying on going again in October of 2008. I can't wait.

Enjoy!

Hi: I have never been, but do they decorate the magic kingdom for this event? Is it crowded?

Thanks,

Deb.

They do decorate and it looks awesome. The night we were there was crowded, but not too bad. The worse was where there were photo ops with different characters. My kids had pictures with King Louie and Baloo, which was great.

Definately do this event.

I am not a big Halloween fan but I have to say this was one of my favorite vacation experiences ever! It was alot of fun and we loved the fact that most of the rides we got on we were the only ones on the ride...we went Sept 30 on our last trip and went on buzz light year as the party started...there was no one on it...just us! There was lots of candy...characters...dance parties with characters...a great parade...and fablous fireworks...we are going in December and plan on going to the MVMCP instead of going into the parks that day...I have read you can actually get into the MK around 4:30 on your party tickets instead of waiting until 7:00...we figure we will just spend sometime in Downtown Disney and go to the MK at 4:30and save a park day for our next trip! We just hope the Christmas party is as much fun as the halloween party!

I would go...have fun!

We're off to Mickey's Not So Scary Hallowe'en Party on the 28th!
It's our last day but our flight doesn't leave until 5:35p so we'll be able to sleep in a wee bit in the morning.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions! It sounds like the perfect way to cap off our adventure!

we will be there on the 28th also! My sister and I did MNSSHP in October '05 and loved it! Fireworks were awesome, crowds were reasonable Candy was plentiful. We dressed up as Mrs. Brill and Ellen from Mary Poppins (complete with votes for women sashes) and other guests stopped us and asked directions to the washrooms, guest services and space mountain. We had a great time and I am looking forward to doing this with my DD's(5,11) this year!

We really noticed this too. We went for the first time in '05 and had a great time and were really looking forward to doing it again last year. But the night we were there in '06 it was a completely different experience and by the time we got back to the hotel we were saying "never again". I think a big part of the problem it it was very hot and humid that night and the park was even more crowded than it had been during the day (it was a week closer to Halloween and that may have had something to do with the increased crowds). On top of that POTC broke down which didn't do much to help people's moods.

It just seemed everywhere we turned there were rude people, many of whom seemed to think that because they paid for their ticket they were somehow special and shouldn't have to put up with crowds or lines and would loudly inform the closest CM (and everyone else around them) of that fact.

What put us off the most was about 11:30 seeing one little boy about 3 yrs old who was so tired he couldn't even keep his eyes open while his mother was literally dragging him along yelling at him to keep up so she could go get more candy (she already had 5 or 6 overstuffed bags) to make sure she got her money's worth. We just think the whole point of MNSSHP should be for the kids (big & small) to have a fun time and there's no way that little guy was enjoying himself at that point. Yes that's only one example but it really seemed to represent the sense of entitlement a lot of parents that night appeared to have.

I guess the bottom line is there was a shortage of pixie dust that night. :confused3

Hi- we haven't been yet-going in September, but when we were there for March break- we were talking to a CM college- and she said that the MNSSHP was the best night of her life at WDW. She said the kids were coming out with so much candy and all were having a great time!!

We experienced it last year October 30th and it was a BLAST! The parade is truly one-of-a-kind and it is (in my opinion) Disney's best firework display!

... and then there's the trick or treatin' for the candy *drool!*

Things to consider:
• go back to your hotel in the middle of the day and take a good nap to restore all of your "batteries" (you parents will need the extra rest as well!)

• before you leave (enter Can. city here) _____________ for DisneyWorld, go to your nearest Dollar store and pick up some neon glow sticks, flashing LED pins, or the like. It will save you some SERIOUS cash from the rolling kiosks that make their way up and down Main Street. Not only will your kids like it, but they will stand out from others by having "unique" flashing accessories while they trick or treat around the park.

• mom, dad, grandpa, aunt Gertie - dress up as well! Part of the fun for me was watching whole families trick or treat together all dressed up. Some were even themed (very neat!) Just remember that deciding to buy costumes at Disney can be very VERY costly.

I could go on and on, but really, everyone on the boards have all said the same thing. This is one event Disney really does extremely well. Your family will have fun, you'll have fun and I believe that if you're doing this on your last night at DisneyWorld, then you'll going out with a BANG! A great way to end your trip!

Have fun!

Those are awesome tips! I did pick up some glow sticks at Walmart for .50 but I'll get the flashing pins too. That sounds like a great idea!
I think this is the one "do not miss" event at Disney!
Thanks for taking the time to share that with me.
Now, if I could only find a Megara costume for a 11 year old girl....lol Thats' what my dd wants to be. DS is planning on going the Pirate route thankfully. Much easier!
:goodvibes
