Not so Scary Halloween Party?

Hello, I wanted some opinions on the not so scary Halloween Party. We are going to WDW in OCT. They have it set for 2 nights during the week we will be there. I think it is expensive. How long is it and when do the parks close. Our children will 6 & 2 at the time. If it is really nice then maybe we will buy the tickets because we are staying at Polynesian. Thanks, Nichole

MNSSHP was THE one thing I wanted to do while we were there on vacation. We went with our two sons 2 1/2 and just turned 8. The park was open till 1 am I think but it might have been 2 not sureont he time but it was late. It was a little pricey but so worth it. Characters in costume, there is candy stations, get a free picture taken, lines for the rides were at a bare minimum. It was so much fun to see everyone dressed up. There were adults and kids in costumes.
My youngest fell asleep in his stroller for about an hour but other than that he was on the go. We did MNSSHP on the first night we were there after flying in. That I wouldnt advise but were were so excited it wasnt really a problem

Yeah, where did you find the dates for this year? We've been waiting for them to be released but I thought it wasn't usually until May.

Officially the MNSSHP begins at 7pm and runs until midnight. However, they will start letting you into MK at 4pm on the day of the party. They will start kicking everyone else out at 6pm. In other words, if you don't have the special arm band they kick you out.

MNSSHP is so awesome that we no longer go to MK during the daytime during our annual October trip. They always seem to have the party at least on Sunday nights. We arrive at Fort Wilderness on Saturday mid-day. Sunday we relax at the pool, do campground activities and take extra naps. Around 3pm we start heading to MK and are through the gates right at 4pm. We stay right up until they close the park at midnight. Our kids are now 11, 6 and 3. The day after we go to the party we sleep in and then usually go to a waterpark in the afternoon.

This will be our fourth year in a row to do this. The lines are virtually nonexistent. You pretty much walk on to any ride. The first year we did it we did the costumes and trick-or-treating but now the kids prefer to skip it and ride rides. Yeah! As I said earlier, we no longer go to MK during the day because we can do everything we want to do during the party. This year we're seriously considering doing it a second night later in the week. Plus, the tickets are relatively cheap compared to a regular one day pass.

Touringplans.com has what I assume are their predicted dates, based on previous years, up on their site along with their best days info. As far as I know, official dates have not been announced yet.

We went to two MNSSHP last year and thought it was well worth the cost. Not only was it fun to see the special parade and fireworks, and to get an entire bag of candy each, but lines for rides were very short, sometimes nonexistant.

We went to MNSSHP for the first time last oct and it was great Even though it was sold out (oct 30) the lines for the rides were very short...alot of the rides we just walked on. The parade was great and we found a great spot to watch it 5 minutes before it started! This was the highlight of a great trip. I would definately do this again

We took our then 6 and 2.5 yo's last October and LOVED it! We had dinner at the CP and then walked onto practically every ride in Fantasyland with no waiting while dh held a parade spot for us. The parade was great fun, and the fireworks were wonderful. It was absolutely worth the extra $$, IMO.

How did you find the dates? I am boarding the Magic cruise on the 28th. I thought Disney said to call around June or July to find out the dates...
If anyone has some photos - I would love to see them...

not so scary is our favorite after hours party at WDW. we always go the first sunday on the schedule.

I looked at the special events and scrolled down then click on "not so scary halloween party". It seems like it is at least twice a week during the begining of October. I can't remember if it was on this website or WDW site. I have seen so much info inthe last 2 days my mind is boggling!

Absolutely worth every penny! We attended our first MNSSHP this past Oct. We usually go in May or Nov. But made a special trip for the party and DD 5th b-day. And now I'm booking a trip so we can go again. The Happy Hallowishes was the best thing I'm seen along w/ the parade All the characters in "costumes". If you like halloween this is a MUST!!!!!! The lines were great. DD LOVES Peter Pan and we were able to ride it 3 x's in a row w/ only a 3 min. wait each time. we also only had a 10 min. wait for the speedway. DD (5) had a ball. Specially trick or treating. Great chance to get some candy and meet some characters!!!

I agree with everyone. It is so worth it!!! We enjoyed it much more then MVMCP.

We did it this year and loved it. We took the early part of the day off so it we weren't paying for two admissions.

Just note - not all the rides are open (like Tiki birds) so it is worth hitting the MK at some point during regular hours.

We took the kids last year. Dd just turned 2 and DS was 7.

When we were at WDW in 2002 and DS was 4 ,we actually attended 2 of them.

When we took DD last year, I fully expected her to fall asleep or get very cranky. She loved it! She stayed up the whole time and was actually upset when it ended. We stayed until midnight. It was so convenient because we were staying at the CR.

This September, we are at the BWV. When I looked under September hours, it has a MNSSHP listed for Sept. 29. YEA!!!! Its our last night there and we'll be going.

MNSSHP is my favorite WDW event, but then I'm 54 so I don't know what it is like for small ones.

I absolutely loved going to MNSSHP...last year was the first one we have gone to and we had the greatest time! We are so bummed that our trip is in mid-September this year so we will miss the party, but we are already planning on going to the party on our October 2007 trip.

The best part of the party was pretty much just walking on to the rides. I also loved all the different characters that were out that we hadn't seen yet. Plus all the candy! We got into the park around 4, we had reservations to have dinner at CRT...I think our next trip we are going to skip the fancy table service meal, and just pick something quick up...took up too much of our time!

When we went, we had a huge group of family, including my 6 year old nephew and 2.5 year old niece. They had a great time, and had no problems staying up late. I think they both ended up crashing in the stroller around 11:45 or so.

My son and I fly down each year JUST for the MNSSHP (see sig) so it's that good. And don't forget, Adults get to Trick or Treat too!!!! Oh and don't forget Adults get to dress up and do face paintings too!!! (points toward picture at left)

We'll be there right along with you! It's our last night, too, then back to Pittsburgh for us. We'll be at VWL...me, my mom, my DD (3) and my Dniece (11).

Oh, MNSSHP is the best! The theming/decorating is so cool! The party runs from 7pm-midnight and that 5 hours just flys by because it is SO fun!

During the party you can ride the rides but they also have:
*Trick or Treating (for everyone!)
*Special parade and fireworks show
*Story-telling
*Face-painting (no extra cost)
*Costume parades
*Dance parties

We LOVE it and did the party 2 times during our trip in October 2004. We plan on going twice this year too!

We can not go this year because we already have an August trip and a December trip booked but, we will definately be going in October 2007 to do the Halloween party. It will only be Sun-Wed trip because we are going mainly for the party. Sunday arrive, Monday ? park day(1 day hopper plus left to use), Tuesday water park then MNSSHP, then leave on Wednesday. It looks like so much fun.
