I have never done a fridge swap before and I have a question for my upcoming swap in June that I didn't see answers for in the very first post. And I want to make sure I do this right as to not mess it up for any swappers after me.


1.) I am pretty sure that I will be picking up the fridge from luggage services as we check in later in the evening...that being said do I trip the person that hands the fridge to me from storage? If so what is the norm? I have never had to use luggage services before and have not a clue.

Youknow the old adage There's no such thing as a silly question....

I always tip luggage service when picking up or dropping off, particularly with a fridge swap- keeps it out of the black hole. Tipping is personal but I would say $5 each time. Of course you could do more or less, but I always find they go out if their way/ above & beyond with a decent tip.

I also want mention that you should always bring the fridge back yourself or accompany bell services when returning the fridge. That seems to be another way they go missing.

Thank you so much! I would of never thought to tip when dropping off!!

I figure a good tip when picking up and dropping off is still a heck of a lot cheaper then renting a fridge for 12 nights.

. If any future swaps can get their hands on large stickers it can help in easily identifying the box.

If the box still needs large stickers, I can cut large Mickey heads with my cricut, put the name of the fridge swap on them and tape them to the box using clear packing tape. I will leave what is left of the packing tape with the fridge. I also will leave(if its okay to do so) some preprinted papers that say:

Hold for guest:_________________
confirmation #:________________
check-in date:_________________

Just wanted to post a quick update. We got the fridge fine, they delivered it right to our room. There was some red stuff inside the fridge (like ink or something) but I washed it out and it pretty much all came off. The fridge worked great! We used the toaster a couple times and it was ok. We are not coffee drinkers. I did forget packing tape so I used about a mile of scotch tape to tape the box back closed. We also left some disinfectant wipes with the fridge. We dropped it off at luggage services no problem. Thank you for letting us be a part of this swap!! I hope everything went well for the next swapper!!
