What's this game like?
Who's done it?
How do you get picked for it?
What are the questions like?
How long does it last?
Anyone here ever win?
What do you win?
Any funny stories you can tell here?

It's a blast if you get picked... or not!

They ask for a newly wed couple, honeymonners are the best, and a middle years( around 10 years) and an older(25 years +).
We were the older couple(married 37 years).

We were asked 6 questions, I believe the hubbies went out of the room first, for the first 3 questions.
One of our questions was:" Who was your hubands last girlfriend and what did you think of her???" another was..."Where was the last place you discovered the 'Magic'??? The funniest answers was... behind one of the rides at Disneyland during a business meeting with her husband's company!!!:rotfl2:
We won with all our questions right... I guess we know each other TOO well:laughing: we won a day pass to the spa and a bottle of wine. And a great DCL keyring And a cool "WE WON" ribbon with the DCL logo on it.

Needless to say no matter if you are picked or not... the game is a riot!:lmao:

Good luck if you play... if not enjoy the good laughter on the behalf of other's answers...

How many rounds of this game do they do?
Just the one?
Do they do other games after?

Each time I have gone, the longest married couple won both time then too. MAybe it is something to that. They also asked those same questions, so maybe they should change it up..... They ask the guys three questions and the ladies three. The ones that usually get picked are the ones in the audience that comes with a huge loud crowd and the ones that looks as if they will give everyone a show.... Very fun to watch and I am sure participate in... It is one of those rais your hand and the staff picks you...

 One question also being "if you had to describe your husband between the sheets, would it be "The Incredibles, Gone in 60 Seconds and (I forget the last movie)". Another question was "If you had to get rid of one of your wifes family members, it would be......?" "Another was where did you go on your first date and who asked who out"?

Sounds like a lot of fun. Do they do it each night? Only once per trip? And When/where do they usually do it? (sorry, newbie questions again) ;)

It's ususally one nite, in either Rockin D or Wave Bands, and after all the dinners are done. It is obviously adults only :).

It's not usually the questions ... it the Answers!!!:scared1: Some go into very detailed answers.. TMI:laughing:

They actually do change the questions...we've seen several versions. Some are used almost every time, tho', like the one about "discovering the magic." I just love it when the longest-married couple ends up having the best answer to that one. One time their answer was that they were doing it in the car, not realizing they had parked on a hiking path, when a troop of Boy Scouts came by! Another one told about their honeymoon in Mexico, where they were carrying a mattress in their car. They ended up picking up a hitchhiking kid, so they made him sleep outside every night on the mattress while they "used" the car. Mind you, both of these couples had been married like 50 years or more!!

Oh, and I forgot the newlywed Mormon couple who both answered the "discovered the magic" question with "In our stateroom last night." They had just been married, and they took abstinence quite seriously! (Or had to say they did, since both sets of parents were there.)

Has anyone been to Match Your Mate? What type of questions do the ask? Not specific questions, but whether they get too personal or embarrassing. I am just curious. I have not been able to attend one of these yet.

Thanks,
Brenda.

Moving your thread to the main forum to get some input. Welcome to the DIS boards! :)

Match Your Mate is quite funny. Yes, some of the questions are personal and embarrassing. That is why it is so funny!:rotfl2:

As the PP said, the questions can be personal and embarrassing. We have only seen this once so not sure if they vary the questions at all. I would say that, when we saw it, question 1 was OK but the other 2 were a bit more 'intimate'.

I really wanted to volunteer but DH was reluctant - after we watched it, we both agreed it was better to be in the audience than on the stage :rotfl2:

Is it hard to get picked? DH and I did something similar on our honeymoon cruise on Holland America and it was a riot. I'd love for us to get picked on our 10th anniversary and see if we do as badly now as we did back then:)

Hope I'm not spoling anything for anyone but they usually look for 3 couples - one has to be a fairly 'new' couple (less than 3 years together, I think) - one has to be about 5 years together and one 10 years or more. That's how it was when we were there anyway. As for how hard it is to get picked, it really deends on how many people are int eh club that night. When we were there, they were having a hard time getting volunteers so it would have been fairly easy to get picked. Try to get there early and get a spot near the dance floor/stage for a better chance of being seen :)

Thank you so much for your imput. I think that we will be on the sidelines, too. Hubby DOES NOT like to be put on the spot, so to speak. We are going for our 1st anniversary. We went last year on the 7-day land and sea for our honeymoon, but we are only doing the 4-day cruise this time. We just went to Disneyland, so that is all right.

Thanks,
Brenda.

However, when I clicked on the link it said that the thread was not available:confused3 . About where is it? maybe I can go directly to the thread.

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks,
Brenda.

OK, I can give you a Match Your Mate answer - WE WON!
It was a lot, lot, LOT of fun. We were on the four night Wonder in February this year during Presidents' Week and the ship was full. We were celebrating our anniversay and were sailing just the two of us. They chose the couple married the shortest time - newlyweds, the longest time (us) and a couple married for 10 years with young children. First they had the men stay onstage while they took us ladies over to Diversions, bought us drinks and chatted with us until the men were done answering their questions. Then we went onstage to answer our questions, our guys went to Diversions and came back with drinks and the silliiness began. :dance3: Questions were pretty silly and some were suggestive and really funny: "What is the first thing your wife will say you touch when you wake up in the morning", "What is your husband's most annoying habit?", "Name one of your wife's relatives you would NOT want to be stranded on a desert island with", and, the best one "If your private life was a movie, would it be "The Incredibles", "PeeWee's Big Adventure" or "Gone in Sixty Seconds". :rotfl2: The prizes were a bottle of champagne and a free pass to the Rasul for the winners:) and Castaway Cay bike/snorkel/tube rental certificates for the runners-up. The game was a riot. Later we kept bumping into people who had seen us and they would talk about the show. Have fun!
