Not so magical vacation

You can also rent those dolly things for the luggage at the bell services stad..it doesn't cost anything they just need your ID and room number.
Or could you have made more than one trip with your luggage? Last year DH and i had over 12 pieces of luggage and it was just hte two of us (we got married there we are not FREAKS that over pack haha!!) and we made two trips with the luggage dolly thing!

We spent our last day at the resort. I refuse to spend over $7000 dollars a year in a place that treats me like I'm just another guy trying to beat the system. I have been an adamant supporter of all things Disney and I regret that Disney did not recognize this. I will no longer be visiting the parks until this matter is resolved and have filed two complaints with the State Attorney Generals office. I'm not sure what else I can say. If this were our first trip it would most certainly have been our last. Hopefully no one else will have this happen to them.
I probably shouldn't have looked, but I found this interesting...

I guess I will always see the glass half full at Disney..... "Cause that my friends is where the magic lives"
:confused3 guess the glass is only half full as long as you have everyone waiting on you hand and foot and doing exactly what you want them to do even when you are trying to beat the system.

Wow...where are you getting $7,000 amount from? You did not stay at expensive hotels! I think you are exaggerating. It sounds like you spent most of your time at another non WDW hotel. As far as the tickets, it states very clearly on the ticket and the website about the 14 days.

If you want personalized service, do not take ME. I don't care it ME is free, I would never use it. I like personalized service and I pay for it, I would never expect it from a BUS!

I think you need to get a grip and spend your money wisely. $7000 is a big budget (if this is true) my estimation is more like $4000.

Actually I feel bad for the guy.
So his math was bad......if you are trying to please a families' expectations for a vacation that they probably dreamed about for a year, then spending 1 less day at the "happiest place on earth" is enough to make ya rage a lil bit.

Please try to hang on to dis vacations sir if your kids/misses enjoys it......it is one of those "fond memories" that they will have of you when your gone.....

always looking for the crock o'gold...

But he didn't HAVE to spend one less day at Disney! First, he could have calculated/reasoned for himself that 14 days from first use means just that - if you first use a ticket to enter a park on the 6th, fourteen days from that date INCLUDES that date and brings you to the 19th, not the 20th. Yet instead of accepting responsibility, he chooses to blame the one Cast Member he asked because she was wrong.
Plus, just because he was not staying in a Disney resort for seven of the fourteen days he was in Orlando does NOT mean he couldn't visit a Disney park one or more of those seven days. He had a rental vehicle, he was in Orlando.

I do feel sorry for anyone when they don't have a great time at Disney. It just such a fun place.

However I do not feel sorry for guests who do not take on some responsiblity for thier own happiness and magical time.

A value resort is not going to load luggage unless you ask for help. That is why it cost what it does. If you are a single parent, with 2 kids and lots of luggage then you might want to plan on getting help.

As to the ticket situation, all I can add to the previous comments is the OP's only bad luck is in this situation is finding a CM that can not count any better than he did.

HHHMMM maybe take some of that $7,000 budget and invest in some luggage with wheels that your 8 and 10 year olds can pull behind them. I'm sorry that you didn't have a good time BUT you have to take some responsibility. If you let the small things bother you then you end up spending the rest of the day in a mood looking for things that aren't "perfect".

I don't understand why the OP had to drag 2 kids 8 and 10 through the parking lot. First, they had a car pull it to the curb and carry the luggage to the car and make the kids help....even my 8yo helps with the luggage carry...

I felt I had to post on the service at Pop Century. We stayed at the Pop in Feb of 2004 and the service was AWFUL!! I made reservations and upgraded for the coranado springs this time becasue of the poor service and the way we were treated at Pop. I won't say that I won't go back because if that is what my finances would aloow then I would go back knowing fully that it is going to be a headache. I did a trip repost on our bad experience at Pop when we returned so I won't go into it fully here but our biggest problem was the same as the poster here. I thought back then that it was a terrible way to start a vacation but the service was soo bad on the last day as well that ..it was just bad all the way through. Too bad because my kids 3 1/2 and 6 1/2 at the time loved the themeing and want to go back!

I feel sorry about the bad service, too.

I agree that the carrying 8 items of luggage might have been handled more easily, maybe there were circumstances that we don't know about. My husband and I try to take as few pieces of luggage as possible, at most one big (or good-sized) suitcase and two small carry-on bags. But if the op had every right to bring as much luggage as he liked, so I can't criticize for the amount of luggage for 3 people.

Concerning the mis-information. It really does sound odd that if someone wondered about what 14 days meant that they would ask a rushed ticket taker. I agree that asking guest services would have been the best idea.

Now about the bugs and the stain. I hate those little ants, they get into everything and can be carried home in your luggage. Very yucky. But the people he complained to should have promised that the room would be sprayed, at the very least, and maybe moved the op to a different (same category) room if available. I would have been very uncomfortable to see the room infested with little ants. And I don't much like big stains on the carpet either. It would have been nice if housekeeping would have at least tried to get it up, and if they couldn't, then patch a new piece of carpeting down or put a throw rug over it or something. I lose my respect for a motel or hotel where the carpet is stained and nasty. When I see stains I wonder how clean the room really is. Is it reasonable to expect the carpet to be replaced everytime there is a stain that can't be removed?- no of course not. But in this case, housekeeping should have at least made an effort at spot cleaning, or, in general, they should get new carpets that repel stains, and replace them when they wear out- I am talking of course as someone who has no clue about whether this would be possible- just as a customer I would like it.

Yikes! Even my FOUR year old helps with luggage -- the six year old not so much, at least without threats of "no helpa the luggage, no swimma the pool!"

Sounds like the OP did some faulty math, is embarrassed to be found to be wrong, and wants to make everyone else pay because then he can save face. Sad -- mostly for his soon to be Disney-deprived kids!

I am sorry you ran into a problem. And then you had to run into a group of people who are too high on pixie dust to look at your point of view.

Just exactly how high are your expectations that you would expect a CM to be able to answer a simple ticket question. Shame on you.

And go ahead and count on your fingers. I do too - arrival on the 6th, (6th - 7th) 1 day, (7th - 8th) 2 days, (8th - 9th) 3 days, (9th - 10th) 4 days, (10th - 11th) 5 days, (11th - 12th) 6 days, (12th - 13th) 7 days, (13th - 14th) 8 days, (14th - 15th) 9 days, (15th - 16th) 10 days, (16th - 17th) 11 days, (17th - 18th) 12 days, (18th - 19th) 13 days, (19th - 20th), 14 days. Gee, imagine that? We ended up on the 20th! It can be a little confusing. That is why you asked about it. Believe me, I know. I asked a CM and was told the exact same thing. Luckily, we didn't hit the last day like you did.

Now, why don't we take a look at how he was treated when he tried to use the seventh day. Here was a customer, repeating one or not, that had purchased 7 day tickets. He was one day past the Disney expiration date. I repeat, one day. And he even explained that. And still, he is told he can't use them. It's not like he was there two months after they expired. A company offering good customer service would have recognized this and explained that they were one day past the date, apologized for him being given the wrong information and admitted him to the park. The problem is, Disney has now become a company focused more on money than their guests. You argue that all you want, but we have been 8 times in the last 10 years and service has greatly declined in the last three years.

I used to work in complaint management. I attended classes on how to handle unhappy customers and I have taught classes on customer service. I used to use Disney as an example on how it is done right. Not any more. They don't cut it anymore.

I didn't mind paying more for Disney. But, it has now gotten to where my family is paying more and not getting more. We are planning a vacation for next year and for the first time in ten years, it will not be at Disney.

<<$200 is the going price for an upgrade on a family ticket>> THEN WHY DID IT COST ME $400 TO UPGRADE MY FAMILY'S TIX TO NON-EXPIRY?! it was $100 (plus $5 tax or something) *PER* ticket?

Because when you are dealing with " 14 days FROM" not just 14 days it's isn't as black and white as you illustrate it.

I was going to do the same thing! LOL :earsboy:

I'm sorry you had a bad time, but I have to agree with the majority here. I would have asked that question way in advance if I had any doubt...
And I just have to say this, I'm not trying to be mean, but at least come back and defend yourself. It looks horrible that you haven't come back and explained what you hoped to accomplish or at least came back with your tail between your legs and said you made a mistake and wish for it to be forgotten. Seems to me (and maybe the others) that you aren't very good at taking responsibility in this issue.
