When we travel we have always been on the dinning plan so I didn't pay much attention to the prices. I have a friend who is going next week and is not on the dinning plan. Any advice on prices I can give her? It's 2 adults and she has 4 children (11 yr old daughter and triplet 7 yr old boys).

:) You can tell her to go to Allears and she can get pricing and menus for most all meals to help budget. There are also Apps for WDW dinning that can help while at the park. Just remind her that portions are usually pretty good at WDW and the kids might could share burgers and fries. She can pack snacks and water in a back pack.

I would also recommend looking at Allears.net. Additionally, I would check the menus at wdwinfo.com and Disney.com. Just remind her that the prices can change, but these should give her a pretty good sense of what to expect. I too have found the portions to be pretty good in size, so sharing is a good option.

We just got back from a 9 day stay, and ate several different quick service meals. The kids meals are $4.99 at most QS places, (I think we paid $6.99 at one place), and they include the entree, drink, fruit and cookie. Adult QS meals ranged from around $7.99 - 9.89 (and that does not include a drink).

We brought a nice sized soft sided cooler that we hung on the back of our strolller and filled it up with water, coke and capri suns each day. We would get drinks from the cooler instead of buying drinks at restaurants, which saved us a decent chunk of change.

We also brought sandwich stuff with us and ate lunch in the parks several days.

We just returned from WDW on Thursday and were on the dining plan, but I wanted to see how much meals would cost us had we NOT been on the plan. We are also a family of 6, 2 adults, 2 kids that count as adults, 2 kids under 9. I kept up mostly with TS meals because I would get the receipt with the actual amount on it before they charged our plan. Our meals were priced between $150-$250. Of our 7 TS meals, we had 2 Fantasmic! dinners, 4 character meals, and 1 regular meal. Please pass along to her that any TS meals for a party of 6 18% gratuity will automatically be added. I hope this helps.

tell her to rethink the "3 squares a day" mode.
you're on vacation. nibble, share things, eat a little when hungry. no one will die of scurvy if they have ice cream sundaes for dinner on vacation (as if burgers and fries or chicken nuggets are healthier?) speaking of nuggets, an order is easy to split . they give you SO many fries!

those funnel cakes at Sleepy hollow in MK are huge! hubby and I split one all the time
