Not impressed by the (VMK) CM's in the MK.

I don't think I have ever encountered such a miserable and unhelpful bunch of CM's in one area before. Are any of them actually trained to know what VMK is? :rolleyes2

...I was disappointed as the Adventureland Quest was closed when we were there too. No idea when or if it will re-open as the CM was so unhelpful. He reckoned it was because POC was closed for maintenance but I reckon it was only a guess as he had no idea when the Quest would start again.

...my DH and I were not very impressed but thank goodness for the DIS - I get much more information on here! :thumbsup2

(overall the WDW CM's were great, sadly though, not all of them.)

The problem is they are Disney employees and don't play VMK and most of them don't know a lot and give out misinformation constantly. I was in the VMK place last trip for about 45 minutes making new characters and I overheard them say all kinds of things to people if they said something wrong I would pull the person over and give them the right information.

I asked on of them about it, they said they don't have to play to work there and they get their information usually FROM OTHER PLAYERS and we all know how many rumors turn into fact that way :rotfl:

When we were there in February, they were pretty clueless on the quests -present and future. But one guy did help me get my gold ears after 2 months. But then I wasn't leaving without them.

Seriously, I was prepared for a really big fight over them. But I only had to talk to 4 people to get them fixed. :rotfl2:

the ones we find are accually nice, and then there are the funny people who go

"I have never seen that before in my life"
When we show them quests they need to stamp/see

its funny

We were at WDW in January 2006 and found most of the CM's very helpful. Yes, some of them do not know the game, but there should always be one CM with the VMK pin on that does know what they are talking about. And believe me, my kids would spend up to 5 or more hours a day in there, so I am sure of what I saw. I will also say that there was a security guard, who was a CL in VMK that spent more time with my kids helping them than I did. We spent so much time there, in fact, that when we missed a day (we were there for three weeks) they were looking for us, and commented the next day about missing us the day before.

I am really sorry, you had a bad experience, but this experience is yours, and you really should not be ready to bad mouth all CM's for this, it doesn't seem very fair IMHO. Also, weekend staff is probably less helpful (more student type) than the daytime during the week.

Luvdiz

I've seen some good and some bad- but one of the best CM's didn't play but could answer loads of questions- she works in the pin shop in Frontierland and really was a pleasant person to be around and was a great advertiser for the game

So you don't think it's right to be honest with an experience in Disney?

If you read my post again I did in fact mention that most CM's were great.

We played VMK/Quests mostly week days and just one Sunday to get the mask. The staff looked young to me, and probably were students, but a cheery hi or a nice smile would of gone a long way when either DH or I approached them.

Of course you are welcome to your opinion, as am I. This is an open Board where everyone is welcome to express their opinions. Ours just differ. I was posting my opinion, which I have a right to, just as you did your. A game and an opinion don't seem worth getting so aggressive about :confused3

Most of the CM's I met were nice, but some... not so nice. (Meaning my parents got a little frustrated, but I think the Cm was more frustrated cause my parents didn't have good grammar in '04) CM's are, I have to agree, obviously young. More of the older ones are more experienced, so we stuck with them. (Didn't want parents getting "frustrated" again.) Cm's are there to help, but a certain used-to-be 9 year-old knew more then them about the rides and Walt. ;)

I hope the ones at HKDL are more useful (and can speak English, I'm not gifted at Chinese). I wonder what they'll be like at WDW in '07....
