Not Happy With Resort Avail. Tool :-(

For the past 2 months I've had 2 active waitlists for a one night ressie in a bungalow from Sept. 25-Oct.1. and I have been checking religiously on the resort availability tool. This morning I get into work and one of the nights was available!!! so I quickly clicked book resort, put in the day that was available and it was not there I figured someone must have snatched it up so I went back on to the resort avail. tool and it was still showing...I tried booking again and still nothing Then I figured, maybe it was because my points were tied up to another ressie that I needed to cancel, so I canceled that and went back on to book the bungalow and STILL showing no availability even though the resort avail. is showing it there. at 9am I called MS and explained what was going on and she checked and said no availability. So again, I go back on resort avail. and its still showing available. I keep checking now because I am afraid that the room will be come available when I click "book resort" and I don't want to lose this. Has this happened to anyone else?? So frustrating!

When it comes to anything last minute or wait list stuff I always make a call to MS. I think the tool is great for longer range plans though.

Odds are, the waitlist picked it up and it's being booked for you already. I've noticed that the RAT doesn't update immediately for PVB. It seems (or seemed) to be immediate for the other resorts, at least until PVB opened up.

But the waitlist also seems to be working much more instantaneous these days; at least grabbing the rooms as their available before they're processed by a human.

The RAT seems to have as much trouble as the DVC website!

When it happened to me, I just kept trying to book the night every minute or so. Eventually, I got it. That worked for me for two different nights on two different occasions - I think the RAT sees availability that the system hasn't quite released yet after a cancellation.

Just an update, since my Original Post, I had checked numerous times for availability and still nothing. I also would double check to make sure that the waitlists' were still active. On Thursday, July 16th before I headed home from work I checked one last time and still nothing. No sooner did I get into my car and my mom called me saying she received an email confirming her one night stay in a bungalow!! The weird thing is, it was for the exact same night that was available that MS kept insisting wasn't. And as I had said, I did not see a "new" available date pop up, so what do you think....Do you think my waitlist was stuck in Queue for over a week? Regardless, I don't care because we got it!!! Woo Hoo!

It is my understand that room cancellations are being held for waitlists but the wait lists are still being filled manually by a CM. If the CM gets behind, who knows how long the room will sit waiting for someone to fill a wait list. What I don't understand is why they don't remove it from the RAT if it has already been designated for a wait list? If they don't use it for the wait list then it can be released to the availability list at that point.
