DH and I are there from Nov 17-22 and staying at YC. We are not on the dining plan. Most lunches will be CS at whatever park we are in. I am not happy with our lunch ressie on the last day. I have read a number of negative reviews and it has me afraid (on side note, I don't eat burgers at all). This is what we have:

Wed (Arrival Day):
Lunch: Hotel (we land at noon)
Dinner: Tony's Town Square - Timed to match the Electric Parade

Thursday: We are doing Universal that day and have dinner at Captain's Grille in our hotel. We won't be using a park pass at all that day.

Friday:
Dinner: Nine Dragons

Saturday:
Lunch: Fultons (meeting Dad for lunch)
Saturday: Les Chefs de France

Sunday:
Lunch: Liberty Tree Tavern
Dinner: Teppan Edo

Monday: (Departure Day - will probably have 3 pm Magical Express pick up)

Lunch: Sci Fi Dine In - This is the one I am torn on. :confused3 Lots of negative reviews. Don't want our final lunch to be a downer. Mama Melrose is open for lunch. San Angel is open in Epcot.

Thoughts, comments, ideas?

Any input is appreciated.

I think Sci Fi is fine - nothing great, nothing bad. There are numerous things on the menu other than burgers, so I'm not sure why that part would be an issue.

I think Mama Melrose tends to get more bad reviews than Sci Fi.

We like 50s Prime Time best @ DHS, but I don't think there's anything wrong with Sci Fi either.

Don't go by the reviews on this board. If the menu looks okay to you, try the restaurant yourself.

We love love love Sci Fi for lunch!!! We never miss it.
I enjoy the food (I have never had a bad meal nor did anyone in my party ever have one), the atmosphere is GREAT.
Don't let a few bad reviews deter you. Meals are very hard to rate because everyone has such different tastes. Go and decide for your own...but we love Sci Fi....
Here are some others we love so maybe you can see if there are similarities in our tastes....
Le Cellier, California Grill, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Columbia Harbour House-for a CS, Teppan Edo, 1900 Park Fare, Kona Cafe....just some ideas of what we enjoy. Sci Fi is definitely one of our favs.

If I had to pick between Mama Melrose's and Sci-Fi, I'd pick Mama Melrose's, but Sci-Fi wasn't horrible.

We have ressies there and I can't wait. Everything I have read about Sci-Fi has been good (I also have not been in the restaurant section). Our last trip I had booked Hollywood and Brown Derby for 9 of us. After I booked it I was reading a TON of horrible reviews so I was nervous to eat there. It was probably one of the best meals we had the whole trip.

We have been to SAI for lunch a few times and the food is always excellent, we prefer it to Sci Fi and we like lunch there too.

I agree don't go with reviews, if the menu appeals to you go see for yourself.

I can personally say Sci-Fi was fine for us. DH had the burger (I see you don't like them) And I had the chicken sandwich. It was fine, not great but good.

I also like San Angel Inn, it gets a bad rap here on the boards as well. And I loved it.

Haven't been to Mama Melrose, so I can't comment.

But again pick the menu you like best and don't worry....honest. ;)

Since you're staying at the YC, why not have a late lunch at Cap. Grill. I have lunch here often (and it's a favorite of CMs too as there are always many dining there at lunch time).

Thanks for the input everyone. I do want to go to Sci Fi. We haven't eaten there in a number of years (I am thinking around 2000 or 2001 was the last time) and we want to try there again. Just nervous about the reviews. I know to take them all with a grain of salt but there have been alot of them.

We have eaten at Mama Melrose before but we are also having Italian one other time during the trip. San Angel has my interest as I want it one night for dinner and it hasn't been available. San Angel has been getting much better reviews so that is why it has my interest.

We plan on being at DHS that last morning. Captain's Grill is a good option also if we decide to eat a bit later after making it back to the hotel. Will definitely keep it in mind. We are eating dinner there one night too.

We really didn't care for the Sci Fi Dine in. IF you go I'd suggest a burger and shake as that was the only food that was 'OK'. We ate at Mama Melrose last trip and LOVED it. If you are on the dining plan both are table service credits. We also have always had yummy food and a good time at the 50's Prime Time Cafe. Also a TS credit and loads of fun with kids. Might I suggest the chicken or pot roast?? ;)

If it were me I'd pick anywhere but Hollywood and Vine or Sci Fi.

I didnt think Si Fi was great but it is totally bad, wouldn't be my frist choicr, I probably wont go there agin but I think everyone should try it just for the experience :santa:

We love Sci-Fi and SAI also.:goodvibes We have been there for dinner and for lunch. When we went for lunch, my family chose burgers with fries and shakes while I chose the turkey wrap with the cucumber-melon salad. It was filling and refreshing. :thumbsup2

I say go for it.:goodvibes

We love SciFi for lunch. We have done Mama melrose at dinner before & liked it too. We love the burgers at SciFi as well as the atmosphere

Sci-Fi is just fine for lunch; it's their dinner food we had issues with.
The restaurant itself is so unique that it's an experience in itself; everyone should try it at least once.

Staying at the YC, go next door to Beach Club and enjoy Beaches and Cream or the Clam Bake at their restaurant.

Sci Fi is fine. I think the advice to stick with the basics is good - the burgers and sandwiches are good. The peanut butter chocolate cake is delicious too.

Thanks for the input.

FYI we are not on the dining plan so all meals are out of pocket. We ate at 50s Prime Time last year we did DxDP.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.
