Not happy with cabin change

It has already happened that “VIPs” get to chose their stateroom, even when already sold.

In this case, yes, I would gladly ask compensation as well.
I think the difficulty is how do you assign a value to a room change within the same category. Guests regularly play full rates for GTY (not GT) rates. Guests often inexplicably pay more for rooms that I consider inferior—deck 10 midship is in the most expensive category despite pool noise. I would pay more to be located near the elevators but that does not command a premium per DCL. I would value far forward rooms much lower than guests who do not share my seasickness, but others give those rooms rave reviews because they are quiet with little hallway traffic and near the adult pool. From DCL’s perspective, if they are moving you but not downgrading category you are not getting something with a lower value that they need to compensate for. We all have our little idiosyncratic views of value ans how could anyone agree on what is fair compensation for something like this? Should DCL compensate us if they take our favorite food off the menu at a restaurant? If they change one of the nighttime shows and we don’t like the replacement? If they remodel the rooms and we hate the new decor?

When you buy a cruise, I think you have to expect that some things may change. You don’t have to love all the changes but unless you are getting something objectively lower priced than what you paid for (eg move to lower category room; cruise cut short from a 7 night to a 4 night) asking for compensation seems a bit much.

Since this was originally posted by me.... I just want to note that I did not ask for compensation, and when I did finally talk to someone, I only said "I just want what I had, originally ".
If there had been some logical and wise reason to move us (spacing out passengers, lack of staff) DH and I were mentally prepared to deal with the noise. We were not going to let it get us down. But since this was a very costly splurge for us, we wanted what we wanted.
I agree value is subjective. Honestly we have no control over weather, what shows they perform, etc., beyond the ports, season, and ships we choose. Beyond the choices we make, we don't sweat things.
The original point was that we did choose the cabin and it was changed to one we would not have chosen without our knowledge.
I only asked for an explanation or a reversal of the change. Preferred mid ship (which I had, originally, and typically is higher cost) but settled for same original deck, aft.

We are sailing in June and our rooms just recently changed too. Instead of midship floor 2, we are now forward 8. I also wish there was some sort of explanation or email instead of them just doing it. I spent a lot of time researching where to stay since both myself and someone else in my family gets motion sickness easily. I understand floor 2 might be used for quarantining or something, so why even let people book it. (I wasn't aware of this until after I booked and started reading all the message boards and facebook groups.) Also, like a previous poster mentioned, I'm fairly certain I paid more to be midship which to me was worth it knowing that I might possibly feel less motion. Again, it isn't the end of the world.....I'm not asking for $ or anything. It would just be nice to have been emailed or notified, especially when call times are out of this world long.

They may still be blocking off cabins on Deck 2 for quarantine purposes.

Yes I'm assuming that is the case. Not sure why they even let you reserve it when if I had to guess.....they've been doing this since cruising returned. I wasn't aware of this until after I booked and came to this site.

Are you sailing to Canada? There are been some other reports just like yours.

FWIW we're sailing Med in May and we're still assigned deck 2 midship (we had no idea this was used for quarantine when we booked)

No Caribbean in June.

A sad commentary on our society. "I'd demand compensation".

You would demand compensation based on what?? Please show me in your cruise contract where it says that God and Mickey Mouse have signed a blood oath that you will only get the cabin that you requested in your reservation.

Same for people who think that DCL owes them a new cruise if a port is missed due to weather, etc.

You may not agree with a reason to be moved, and it is in Disney's best interest to minimize disruptions to people's reservations, but at the end of the day it is Disney who is making the decision. If offering up an explanation would open me to a bunch of aggressive people like you questioning me, I'd probably just keep silent about it also.

If it was out of service or due to reasons out of DCL's control, sure no compensation is due or should be expected. Otherwise, it's poor customer service and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect compensation for the inconvenience.

I think you are missing the point. If the cabin is reassigned from me to someone else, why is DCL favoring that guest over me? That's different from changing the menus, the shows, or whatever. Would you be upset if you can't see your favorite show only because your reserved tickets have been given to someone else?? So that someone else would be enjoying it instead of you.
