We took the DVC tour & it was very pleasant.

At the end of the tour when the 'push to sell' us was on, our guide asked us # of days we would vaction each year & time of year and was figuring out the # of points that we would need. He figured the number of points using the studio in his example, knowing full well we have three children over the age of three (this was discussed several times throughout the presentation). I didn't realize at the time that 5 are NOT allowed because he kept saying that the studios hold 4-5 people. I'm glad we decided to go home and think it over, because as it turns out, we need a 1-bedroom.

We're totally turned off this guy - very deceptive. We definitely want to buy in, how do we go about picking a new guide. We would definitely NOT use the clown we had.

Call and ask to be reassigned and let them know why.

We didn't like our guide after our purchase and got a new one. You really don't have much contact with your guide after purchase so it didn't really matter I just didn't want him contacting me.

PS....there are some studios that will handle 5. We had CRO put 6 of us in a studio (we had an infant, 3,5 and 6yr olds). So, they didn't really tell you a lie if they said 4-5. Problem is there isn't any guarantee you will get a studio plus.

We didn't like our guide either after the first time that we toured so we asked for a new one when we went back to take another look. Our new guide did a great job and we bought in. Sad to say that he is no longer there, but the guide that we were assigned is very nice.

The studio plus at BWV is only a request and is not guaranteed. In the olden days, you could request it and be guaranteed to get it. No longer. It's still just a studio with a deacon's bench and skinny foam pad on top that they call a "day bed".

With 5, you really need to start considering a two bedroom because according to DVC literature (and not the whim of MS), that's what you need with 5-8 people.

We went through the same thing back in 2000. Our guide was very, very condescending towards me. I promptly called the supervisor and we were reassigned. Our guide now is ok, but like someone else said, you don't really talk to them often. I would not let this person influence your decision to buy in. It was the best thing we ever did!

Yeah, definately no need to feel the way you do. IMO, most are not going to turn you off. Best of Luck, Matt

I think its pretty important to have a good rapport with your guide. Love our guide! DH is in Iraq and we wanted to do an add on and some deed stuff so he worked with us on paperwork and such, really went the extra mile.
Very easy going and great to talk to!
If your not comfortable it probably would be a good idea to change!

Sorry to hear that you had a less-than-pleasurable experience with your guide. We had and continue to have an AWESOME guide. She never pushed or was condescending toward us. I'd ask for someone new and let DVC know of your experience.

another option... consider re-sale.

we just purchased (in process of closing) at Timeshare Store.
they were very good --- worked as a team (e.g. when my agent was out all the others helped as if it were their sale); great feedback and information; no hard sale; and often have great prices.

takes longer to close, but you get exactly what you want (e.g. choice of resorts)... and once you close, there is no difference in benfits.

PS> if you under with a small contract (e.g. <150 pnts), you can always add on more from DVC direct or resale.

Good luck

We have friends that specifically bought at BWV (family of 5) because of the studio plus rooms. That's what sold them on buying BWV points. They bought direct from Disney 5 or 6 years ago.

What is referred to as a "daybed" in the studio plus rooms at BWV is more of a glorified luggage rack. I would not put even a 3 year old on it to sleep as the floor is more comfortable IMHO.

Now, the subject here being requesting a new guide, I would definitely call and make the request. You are early on in the process, and if you feel that strongly about the guide you met with, then make the change now before it goes further.

Guides, ie salespeople, obviously will have different levels of experience and personalities. They have many at DVC and I am sure you will have better luck with the next one.

the problem with this is not the buying process. If they go this route they will still have the same guide they already talked with ,until they get changed in the system.

I toured 7yrs ago with my son and ex and my ex was none too thrilled to pour money into Disney. When I went back this past Nov with my 15yr old son and now divorced we took the tour again and had the same guide who remembered how unhappy my ex was at being there. I don't think my guide took me seriously though and just went through his sales routine. So when I got back home I bought resale. Now I get mail from Disney with his name on it and I bet he is real suprised that I really did it lol.

Are his initials by chance J.S.? We had an almost indentical experience. It was soooo bad that we said we would never by DVC. It wasn't until a year or so later thanks to the Timeshare Store and these boards that we reconsidered, requested a new guide and bought in. It was acutally a Fairfield presentation that got us even thinking about a timeshare again. Started searching on the net and the rest is history.

We have a reservation for 5 in studio at BWV in June. It is true the reservation list the Studio-Plus as a request, but it isn't guaranteed, but I was told we could bring an air mattress as a back up (just in case one wasn't available). I was alos told they try to save the studio plus rooms for reservations of 5.

Someone posted a picture of the daybed in the BWV studio plus rooms here:

My 5 year old nephew is going to be using it in June. We will see how this works out for us after this trip. Our family is only 4, so we have never tried this, but we are treating DH's sister's family to a trip and they are using this room with 5.

It wouldn't work with an older child. We had one of these rooms a couple years ago (didn't use the daybed, since there are only 4 of us), and I know it wouldn't work for my older kids. But it is nice to have this option for this trip since we were low on points, but had just enough for 2 studios.

We toured years ago when DS was one...our guide was nice but not inspiring. Good with the numbers. We went back when DS was 2 1/2, but this time we owned our house instead of renting an apartment and had the financial wherewithal to make the purchase. We had a new guide, but we were still in the system so our old one's name was on everything. The gentleman who walked us through the contracts was actually kinda condescending until I finally said, "it's not a matter of if we will buy, it's a matter of when and how many points." Then he was all smiles. I wasn't thrilled with that.

When we added on - three months after the initial contract - somehow DH ended up with Julie and we just simply love her. We met with her on our next trip in person to sign our papers and she was great. So somehow, we ended up switching and I am still in the dark as to how it happened.

So switch! Definitely do not stick with someone you don't like

I would think any studio with 2 adults and 3 bigger kids would be tight anyway. Even if they let you do it, and I think they will, long term you will probably feel that you need more points to get a bigger unit. I would rather take less trips and be comfortable during them than squeeze. We have 4 kids, and even when the oldest no longer goes with us I think we will still get the 2 bedroom to have the space and 2 bathrooms and such. BUT....that's just me! That being said, we like our guide just fine but he never calls us anyway so we really don't care ;)
