On Saturday, Ben decided to cut the grass, right when he was picking up the lawn mower, he gets stung in the back by either a wasp or a bee, not sure which, he never did see what it was. Immediately the site swells, which is normal. He jumps in the shower to get the sweat off & to clean the site. He gets out of the shower & his lips are 4 times its normal size. His eyes are beginning to swell. He has me rub the towel across his back because he says it itches. I move the towel & there are hives all over & spreading! I told him that this didn't look good & I thought he needed to go to the ER immediately. Of course he doesn't listen. After 20 mins or so, he decides to go to urgent care. We jump in the car & I am doing 70 to get there. We walk in the door & he is having trouble breathing, itching like crazy everywhere. Urgent care, we know now, does not do allergic reactions. They transfer to the hospital. His was so bad, they didn't have time to rush him by ambulance. He would not have made it. The hospital is maybe 10 mins away with traffic. They call him immediately to the back, the dr tells the nurse to drop everything she is doing & focus on him. That can't be good. We get in the room, Ben vomits. The dr looks at Ben, injection in hand & says "I know you are in distress, but this will save your life" and then tells me & the kids to leave the room NOW. I was freaking out. I called my MIL to come get the kids, I couldn't deal with them not knowing what was going on with him. At 6 pm, now this happened around 2:30 pm, they transferred us to our local hospital where he kept overnight. He was on benadryl by iv, steriods, fluids, 6 iv bags of fluids to be exact. He was on the same floor my mom was on when she did, 3 rooms down to be exact. Flood of memories came back to me. I even saw the same nurses my mom had. Thank God Ben didn't have them! At 4 pm today he got discharged. He is doing much better now. All the swelling, the rash & hives have gone away. He now has to have an epipen on him at all times in case he gets stung by something else again. To know that he was so close to dying scared the crap out of me. If you are on my FB page, you saw all my updates & thank you all so much for the prayers & well wishes! Joni, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You kept me sane when I wanted to lose it & you was there for me the entire time. I love you girl!
