not getting married at disney now

hi all
i thought i would post and let you al know that there will be no wedding at disney for us next year we have had a lot of talks and have decided to get married at home now the long and short of the matter is that my mum has MS (which is why she couldn't travel to wdw)and his mother has been talking to my DP and saying to him that she feels sorry for my mum not being able to go and watch her only daughter be married (i have one brother)we had explained that we could not afford the big wedding over here and she has now said that she will help pay for the wedding which is nice of her but i can't help but think it's her thats wants the wedding to be over here and it was easy to put the blame on my mum i had however been watching a friends wedding video and was starting to feel like i was missing out because my family wasn't going to be attending so in a way my future MIL has done me a favour because
so no disney wedding but a wedding at home with all the trimmings

There are lots of Disney Theming you can do for your wedding. Have you thought about what kind of theme you wanted to go for? I'm glad your family will now be able to atend. Good luck!

thank you for your kind wishes yes i am happy now we have got our family attending and no i havn't thought of any theming yet i just know it needs to have the colour pink mixed in it's my fav colour

Although its a shame you will not get a disney wedding its great that you can now have your family there! Like Katie said there are many ways that you could incorperate a disney theme into your day!

You could also do a Disney Honeymoon too sometime in the future. Doing what you did for your family was an act of selflessness and lots of love. Your family is lucky to have such a wonderful person.

HOw about some kind of a princess theme as you can include pink colors into it? Or do a Mickey and Minnie theme with pink mickey and minney things?

Sorry to hear the FTW is off Eve, but a wedding at home with your family will be great - to be honest if my mum couldn't have come to my wedding I think I would have stayed home too

we are getting married in a registry office(partner don't want church wedding and we are both not religous types)in bromley kent, it has beautifull gardens with lakes all around and we are getting married in the garden room we booked it yesterday for the 28th july next year so let the planing begin

Believe me, my dear, what matters is the Disney Marriage - not a Disney wedding. so sorry to hear about your mom - I have a dear friend with MS also. Believe me - even if you are wearing a paper sack with rain pouring down - in mud up to your ankles - it will still be special because your mom is there - I think this probably is a blessing in disguise. I have seen many young ladies with a 1 carat - or now a days - 2 carat now seems to be the "expected" norm - get divorced within 1 to 2 years. What they spent on the weddings just takes your breath away. Nice things are great - but I don't know that it is making anyone happier or helping them build a marriage that will weather the storms of life. some people will be lucky enough to be really rich and healthy for their whole lives - most ofus however, won't be that lucky - love and committment is what sees you through those days. Good luck with the planning - this is a special time for you and mum - just use your judgement on not over stressing her - I'm sure it will be great. Goodness knows I've seen great ideas on this board - so it will be like having thousands of little wedding helpers if you need opinions. How cool is that?

thank you for your lovely and kind words midwestdee my mum has said that she didn't mind me going away and getting married but it just didn't seem right to me and i was beginning to wish that i was doing the marriage over hear but i got the push i needed from my MIL to be and she has kindly said that she would help with the money side of things altough i won't be having a big wedding but at least the important people in my life will be there

Oh, you are welcome, my dear! I'll look forward to future postings about your big day - my DD is getting married in Oct. - she will be honeymooning at WDW - it is a big expense for them - Dad and I will be helping out (more than he knows). She has always been a blessing to me and all I can hope for is her happiness. She is a Eeyore fan - the last time we were there in 2000 - she and I were at MGM (I'm pretty sure it was that park) and Eeyore came by and we got our picture taken with him - it is one of my favorites!
