I think i have another ear infection, they feel like they need to explode (pop) lol and my sinuses hurt.
Worst thing is we go on holiday not this sunday, next!!! :(

It took me months to shake off the last one i had which was over 8months ago, and another thing,i go light headed and i was bed ridden  :( why me...

Anyone got any words of wisdom?
I could do with some advice on making sure my ears will be ok on the plane *landing, taking off* is there anything i can take or do?

Thanx,rant over
Beth xx

P,s im off to the dr's later or tommorow depends when they can fit me in.....

I am so sorry about your ear problem. I have never had a problem with my ears but my uncle does and he gets his ears syringed just before he goes and uses ear drops but check with you Dr. first.

I do feel so sorry for you. Last time I caught a bug on the plane and was sick for the first couple of days including in the queue for Honey I shrunk..... at Epcot. You can laugh if it makes you feel better.:Pinkbounc

Fingers crossed that it's not an infection (or atleast as bad as you fear) and you'll be ok for your trip! It stinks being ill on holiday (been there, done that) :(

Penny :)

Sorry no words of wisdom here just hope you get better soon especially before you go on holiday. Hopefully it won't be so bad this time:)

You could try those 'EarPlanes' that you can get from Boots. They are designed to equal out the pressure in your eustachian tubes. This should stop your ears 'popping' and ease and discomfort.

I cant recommend earplanes enough, i have an ongoing ear problem, resulting from an abcess right down inside the ear which required several months of medical treatment. The first time we flew to Florida the pain was unbearable, i thought my head was about to explode and was extremely uncomfortable for a few days, but the second time my local pharmacist suggested ear planes, you put them in before take off and take them out once you have reached cruising altitude and put them back in at least an hour before landing, they need to be in place BEFORE the plane starts to descend, this time my ears were perfect, no inside pressure, no ringing and no pain. they only cost about £4.00 from boots or most good chemists.

Just another point, if you are going in the water and need to protect your ears they also do water planes. protect the ears but you can still hear as normal. Hope this is of some help.

Sorry to hear your ear is poorly, Beth:( . And what bad timing . . . let's keep everything crossed that it's just a short-term bug. Hopefully the thought of arriving in US will hurry it's repair on

........ I second Alison's advice regards Ear Planes - get them in way before the descent which really starts quite early, also, subject to the Dr's advice and medication, a decongestant timed so that it's working for the whole flight would be a good idea - don't take it with travel sickness or any other medicine that could cause drowsiness.

I really hope that it isn't as bad as you fear Beth and wish you better VERY soon. I also hope that you see the Dr. -I think it's important that you do.

Loads of pixie dust coming your way :)

Another Dis-er referred me to this post to suggest trying Mullein Flower Oil (sometimes just called Mullein Oil). I've had clients who have cleared up long-standing infections using it and it's readily available at most health food stores.

It won't interfere with any meds your Dr. might recommend if you use it in conjunction with a prescription and you can have it on hand for use at the first sign of infection.

Feel free to pm me for more info if you're interested. :D

Oh Beth, I do hope that your ears are better very very soon. Touch wood, I don't suffer that way, but DH, DS and DD all have done in the past and I know it can be extremely painful. Lots of PD for a speedy recovery.:sunny:

Hi Beth

Sorry to hear you're not well. It's such bad timing isn't it? I can really sympathise with you as I had to cancel out trip in December due to my foot problem, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you are still able to go!

DS Dan had glue ear a few years ago and we were due to fly to Florida. The consultant at the hospital gave him some decongestant nose drops to use, which open the tubes, so less chance of a problem.

I also used these nose drops for DD on our last return flight as she had a really heavy cold, and they really helped.

I would ask your GP for some advice on this, he will know what to recommend to you.

Hope you are feeling better soon and it doesn't ruin your trip, let us know how you get on at the Drs won't you? :D

Ive been prescribed anti biotics, they last for 7days...so hopefully this will help, im also going to buy those ear planes i will definately need them, and im taking Cleo's advice and getting mulletin flower oil as well,so fingers crossed.

Thanx for all your messages its nice to have some support.

Will let you know how i get on...
Beth :)

Still keeping my fingers crossed it clears up in time Beth!
