Not enough Training Newbie

I'll be seeing everyone as you pass by. I'm planning on the marathon crawl, but I'm determined to at least start. Training did not go the way I expected. I put in steps, just not pretty ones. Other problems have since cropped, but we'll see. I can't wait to chat with everyone at the start and if you're able to wait at the finish line don't forget to check back at the "W" location family reunion area. Think positive!

Lily: you are the first WISHer I ever met and the one that got me started on all this. You are truly one of my heroes and I know you will finish strong. The back of the pack is going to be one big PAR-TEE!

Yes, Debra, last year was my first and only marathon. I do have about 6 or 7 halves under my belt. You can see I am a relative newcomer to all this. My very first event was in April of '07 (I was going to say April of last year, but as of today that would no longer be accurate!) Wendy and Lily have done the Goofy every year since it started......they are the ones who have all the advice. (I'm just a party animal!)

Ok now some more questions....
How do I know which corral I'm in? I did confirm my registration and have my bib #.
How could I meet up with someone at the event who I'm running with but we're not staying at the same hotel?

Thanks!! I'm actually feeling more positive about this adventure. :thumbsup2

Everyone has been posting their bib numbers, plus there's a link to another site that has the corrals by bib numbers.

Then check this one:

Tells you where to go on race morning. Shan asked the question about the half, but it's the same for both days. And if you can, be sure to come to the meet at Pop on Friday at 4:30 so you can meet as many people as possible before the race.

I DO???????? Since when does walking ONE marathon amount to lots of experience!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Seriously guys, you give me way too much credit. That said, what I lack in experience I make up for with spirit and determination. We WILL finish this thing and we'll have fun doing it. No matter how much training you've got under your belt, just think of this as your nearly 7-hour victory lap and ENJOY every second of it. And remember that every single person you see cheering along the course is there cheering for YOU! I'm so happy to know there will be lots of WISHers at the back of the pack......it should be a blast!

BTW, the WISHer we should be tagging along with is Wendy (getnthinr) Not only is she doing the Dopey (all 3 races) but this will be her 30th full marathon! And she walks just about every step also......now that's a lady with experience! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Now you're giving ME way too much credit! I may be doing my 30th marathon but I'm right there with the walking wounded -- for me, it's been Achilles bursitis and tendonitis. I just want to finish within the time limit. Typically Jeanne can walk me right into the ground. And so can Lily. And so many others.

I agree that a lot of it is getting your head around the task -- break the race into segments and just conquer one chunk at the time. I'm not absolutely sure I can do it this year, but as Debra said, I couldn't live with not making the attempt.

Thanks, WISHers for all your positive energy!!!!!!

Wendy - I've forever been in :worship: :worship: awe of your marathon accomplishments!! I'm on the Disney Dead list as well and enjoy your race reports immensely:thumbsup2 There's no doubt in my mind you're going to get it done:yay:

Lily - Haven't you done Goofy EVERY year:worship: :worship: ?! I don't know of many other WISH'ers with that accomplishment and you'll make it through this as well:hug: .

Jackie - I DO have a sweet little puppy, Maggie, that we brought home on 12/11. She's limiting my sleep to 3 hour intervals which is yet another reason I just can't get the training done:confused3 . I can't even imagine how you're handling it with TWO puppies at home:scared1: . Best of luck to you in getting a bit of rest;)

Debra - Thanks so much for bumping up the thread:cheer2: .

I still can't believe it's really NEXT weekend:rolleyes1 but I am very glad to have found this thread because I now feel confident that it's all going to be okay:grouphug:

OK, folks..I'll be :cheer2: for you!!
Jeanne, you know the outfit...Uncle Sam hat and my WISH shirt..and cow bell!! I'll be at TT, Poly, the awful turn around (with oranges!!), and then at the "W" tent. I always wait for the very last person, unless someone down the line calls me to tell me who the last WISHer is! I'm THERE for you!!! :cool1: :goodvibes Anne

Oh Anne, I am SO happy you are going to be cheering on the course again. I didn't even know you last year, but I kept looking for that wonderfully crazy woman who kept showing up everywhere! Just knowing you are going to be at all those locations gives me something to look forward to!

ANNEEEEEEEE!!!!! :) Hiya Sweetie!!!! Soooo excited to see you again!! Can't wait to see your loveliness next week... Cheer Buddy!!!

Note to self: Find Cowbells.... MORE COWBELL!!!!! ;)

OK, folks..I did not mean to redirect the FOCUS of this thread!!!

I can honestly say I get waaaayyyyy more pleasure out of scream teaming for the full than doing the WDW half!! I'll never forget msblrobs/Sara and her cowbell at the entrance to EPCOT on my first WDW half. I so desperately needed to see a friendly face!!
Jeanne, that's exactly why we tell people where we will be, so you can say, "*** is waiting at __ , I'll try and get there..." and then on to the next group of WISHers. I didn't see a scream team list, so just wanted you to know that I'LL BE WAITING FOR YOU!! :dance3:

again..

DNF>DLF>>DNS!!!

Anne - How have you been?! Still sad about not being able to see you & Bob at PDR since I had to bail on it:sad1: Thanks for your reiteration of the importance of the WISH scream teams as a major factor in helping people make it through the endeavor:yay: For those of you doing this for the first time, prepare to be amazed at the support the WISH team provides out on the course:grouphug: . We take it extremely seriously about supporting all WISH'ers through til the end and no one will get left behind:hug: There will still be screamers out in force for back of the packers offering water, nourishment, cheers and hugs, whatever you need to make it to the finish line:cheer2: . I will definitely look for you out on the course and appreciate you posting your cheering locations:banana: The funny thing is, I had NO intention of running this race and was solely going to WDW to scream team for the full myself. A bib became available a few weeks ago so I'm in for 26.2 now but I agree with your statement that scream teaming is immensely gratifying:cloud9: Thanks in advance for your support:hug:
