With BankOne if I made a payment, it showed up THAT day. With Chase, I make one and a couple of days later it appears. Is it a Chase habit to delay posting to catch people and force a late charge? That wasn't an issue in my case, but I wouldn't advise ever scheduling one for the day it is due, or even a day or 2 ahead! I'm thinking I don't care for their business practie, at least not what I;ve seen so far.

This is one of the reasons I'm cancelling the Disney card. My monthly bill was pretty large a few months ago (around $8K :guilty: ) and I made the payment online through the Disney Card site. It cleared my checking account the next day, seven days later it still wasn't showing cleared on teh Visa site. I called and what a runaround. I finally got a supervisor on the phone who did a three way call with me and my bank to verify the funds had cleared my checking account. I was pissed, I shouldn't have to go through hoops for something like this.

I've had lots of problems with Chase over the years, in fact this is the last thing I have with them, I cancelled two other cards, closed a Money market account, and paid off two car loans early just to be rid of them.

I am not a fan Chase, myself. A few years ago they mixed up my husband and his father somehow. They do not have the same first names. They do not live in the same state. Just made me wonder how accurate their systems are. Things may have changed since then, but I thought that was a pretty big deal.

As far as posting goes, our bank that is highly regarded says on their online payment page that it can take up to two days for payments to post this even when paying with their bank online!

Bank One (I belive now is owned by someone else) once let me make payment over the phone with no surcharge. At that time there was a glitch in my online payment and since I had never been late with a payment, they gave me a "pass" on being a day or two late. I just called them.

I think these credit card companies are finding ways to get those late fees, myself. I have heard that not only can it affect your APR with them, but with all your accounts! (I'm sure that is not what you wanted to hear.)

I had Chase before and it did take awhile for things to show up. Charges, payments, etc.

I was much happier with my MBNA card. Heck, I could go to the grocery store and an hour later DH would be paying bills and it would already be there as a temp authorization charge!!

I've used the on-line payment a couple times in the last six months....

It has always posted the same day as transaction...no problem yet...

Same for me, my DH has a regular Chase Visa and I have a new (a couple of months new) Disney Visa. I always make my payment when the bill comes in and it always shows up as being paid the next day.

I have not found one I am a fan of LOL!

MBNA was the worst so I cancelled them. AMEX is a joke... they have 200 divisions and if a billing error involves more then one of them GOOD LUCK! They can't talk to each other and of course the customer is always WRONG... I even had the merchant calling them explaining that he never processed a charge and he never got any cash from them for it so he couldn't refund it!

I thought about getting a card from my local Credit Union, but then discovered that thier fraud is kind of a two day post charge review thing. One of my friends mom's card was duplicated and LOTS of starange charges were on it. I think that one of the biggies would have called her immediately, but the CU has a firm who does a retro review so it was about 3 days into it before they realized that Mom doesn't normally charge thousands of dollars on electronic equipment in two different states!

This morning I paid my Mariott Rewards Visa (Chase) bill online that's due tomorrow, and immediately got an e-mail saying the payment will post to my account today. If you make an online payment after a certain time in the afternoon, it will post the next day.

I paid this in the middle of the billing cycle as I needed to free up the credit line for another major purchase. What they told me was that "larger" payments can take longer. I do'nt agree with their logic for two reasons, first, it's the same process if it's a $12 payment of a $12K payment. Second, I have made half a dozen payments in this same manner for over $6K in the past year or two, and with Bank One it was always credited the next business day.

Chase, well, they just suck. I think they were trying to hold my money to "use it" for a few extra days. When I called, I told the manager that she could see my records and that I had put over $105K through that account last year, and was it really worth losing my business to make an extra buck in interest by holding my money for a week? I suggested that I was sure another institution might be happy to have my business, and it was only then that she agreed to check with my bank and if the payment had cleared my account she could manually put it though on their end.

I've had other issues as well with them since Chase took over, and I'm taking my business elsewhere.

I have had the same checking, savings & IRA's etc, for years and years. It started out to be NBD then the bank changed to Bank One & now changed to Chase. Also 2 of our credit cards are with them, A visa and of course disney visa. And now my car payment is also with chase.

HMMMM....Maybe I should be on my way to finding a new main bank. :moped:

bank one is owned by jp morgan chase. But the credit card is going to bank of america I think?

I think there are also some issues with the changing over of accounts to Chase, particularly online. We have two credit cards with chase that I have always been able to see online. On Thursday, I went on line and was able to access on of my old Chase accounts and my Disney account, but not the other account. The tech guy I talked with indicated that they were switching over systems, and that I should be able to access them all on Monday--just tried, and I can.

Oy, ok. Bank One is NOT owned by JP Morgan Chase. The two companies merged and kept the name Chase. A friend of mine still has her job at Chase (she is unsure for how long, since they don't give their employees any answers), and as far as she can tell Bank One is in charge, not the Chase people.

Bank of America is not taking over their credit cards. Bank of America merged with Fleet Bank last year. This year they are taking over MBNA. MBNA credit cards will soon be BOA credit cards.

Also, before you guys cancel credit cards that you have had for a very very long time, consider this. It can hurt your credit rating.

* Also, don't cancel until they are PAID IN FULL.

I found out the hard way. I cancelled 2 of my cards and now I can't negotiage the interest rate since it's a closed account.

I still have 2 other cards but once they are paid in full, I will just lower my credit line. One card I will use for rewards and pay off monthly, the other I will keep on hand for emergencies since it has a very low interest rate.

Bank One & JPMorgan Chase & Co. merged... the Credit Cards are serviced under Chase's name.

I have bank one accounts (Disney Visa and regular banking) and once had a problem with my visa payment showing up on the proper date. I had already checked the online system and noted that per their site it stated payments made by X time a day would appear that day. I waited a few days and my payment showed up - back dated - and I was not charged interest etc. As long as you keep all emails/communication copies you should be ok if you follow their payment rules.

My credit score is well above 800. I have three major cards that I've had for ten years or longer. Cancelling the Disney Visa will have absolutely no effect on my credit score.

Well if Bank of America keeps ANY of the MBNA people... I will cancel that card so fast.

MBNA once told me that since I gave a merchant the credit card for a valid charge at that point I had authorized "all charges" . SO the fact that 6 months later the merchant processed a $1,000 charge on my account was my fault and they wouldn't do anything. I READ them the Fair Credit Act over the phone and they did decide to investigate and eventually the charge went away, but really....

They had some financial guru's on a news show, and they said that if you cancel a card that you have a long term relationship, it will effect your credit rating. Cancelling the Disney Visa, which is only a few years old, will not. All I was attempting to do was to pass along some helpful information. I am not telling anyone not to cancel their Disney Visa, I also have it, and rarely use it.
