Being the Disney addict that I am, I usually purchase The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob Sehlinger every year. I was just browsing through the 2006 edition and found this in the paragraph about Pal Mickey. After a brief description, examples of Pal Mickey's phrases are given. The following is exactly what appears in the book-

Occasionally he shares something personal like, "I could totally get baked on a good joint right about now. Are you holding?"

Okay, I'm hoping there is a different meaning to this and I'm just missing it. It's on page 347 if anyone else has this edition. I even read it several times, thinking surely I wasn't reading it right. They sure got a shock out of me!!!

This has been posted about before. I'm guessing it shouldn't have made the final edition but it did make me laugh and made sure I was paying attention.

The 2005 edition quickly follows that quote by saying that it's meant to be a joke on the part of the writers.

It sounded like a joke although if anyones Pal Mickey can say that, I'll trade ya! My Mouse has just been telling bad jokes and puns for the past hour.

EVer play the theme park trivia game on Pal Mickey?

I kick butt at that.

Good reason to buy a passporter instead!

It's a joke at my house! We don't even own Pal Mickey. My DS and I talk like Mickey and use that line.

Remember that the Unofficial Guide is not produced or endorsed by Walt Disney World and the people writing are simply very knowledgable Disney fans. Not Disney employees.

Hey, many people here could write a more thorough book than those unofficial writers.

If you need info, this is the place to be, not a book per se.

I thought it was pretty darn funny... that's why I buy the Unofficial Guide.

I'm not sure why the "(Joke!)" tag that we had at the end of the 2005 edition wasn't included in 2006. Maybe we deleted it to save space.

The comment is indeed an attempt at humor. Obviously, people will have different opinions on whether it succeeds.

Yes, it was funny. Not quite as funny as Sgt. Blisterblaster, but a chuckle nonetheless. I got it, as I'm sure most people would. There'll probably be a few squeaky wheels who are wildly offended. There always are! Please don't delete it. The rest of us need grease, too.

One of the best reasons to buy the UG is the off-beat jokes and sense of humor in the book. Don't they call the kid-swap move something like "Chuck Bubba" Dance??

That book is a hoot and makes for good reading every year.

I believe the term you are looking for is the "Chuck Bubba Relay". ;)

I LOVE my UG and I think it is hilarious! No, I don't have a Pal Mickey, and Yes, if I had one and he really DID say that I would be offended. But in the book it is a JOKE. My DH will tell you I already take WDW planning way too seriously - the UG reminds me to lighten up. I never lighten up, but it is nice of them to remind me that it IS a vacation. :flower:

The 2006 UG is in bookstores now. It was released in September.

The UG rules. I enjoy the humor and the other observations. :earsboy:

Not something I would want my kid joking about.

Have you noticed the many typos in the 2006 edition? One of the things I noticed is the sentences are repeats of the ones above them. I'll find an example to explain it better. It's weird. I had major surgery and I'm on some good drugs - thought I was seeing things. Don't get me wrong, I love my UG but the typos this time are pretty bad.
