Will that be a big problem? My DS & DDiL intend to do the 1/2. I have us in AKV, will that be a problem for them? I didn't know anything about preferred resorts when I booked awhile ago.

Someone here posted that they were at SSR but wanted to change to an Epcot resort. Would SSR be better than AKV for my family?

We did this race last November. We didn't have a car, so staying at one of the host resorts for the race was important to us since it made it a snap to get to the expo and the race. So we stayed at SSR (I think AKL was also a host resort last year, but they change from year to year).

Since the race starts at WWS and ends at EPCOT, you still have to get to the start at WWS, which was zoo traffic-wise the night of the race.

If you're going to have a car, I guess being at a host resort isn't that vital. But if you aren't, then I'd really suggest trying for a room at one.

They will have a car, and DH will be there to drive it, let them off where ever. How do I find out which resorts are considered "hosts."

SSR is a host resort. Since you have a car though it shouldn't be a problem. We stayed at AKV when we did the F&W half. We didn't have a car. We took a taxi to go and check in and the day of the race, we took a bus to Epcot. They had a shuttle there to take us to the start of the race. After the race we walked over to BC and took a taxi back.

OK...too bad I didn't know about "host" resorts. I borrowed AKV points to get them there, and I could have borrowed from either BWV or BCV or VWL to have gotten them into one of the host resorts during the owners time.
2 years ago we did the January events and stayed at AKV and they had busses, I just assumed it was going to be the same.

Alright. I've given them the option to change, SSR is available, so if they let me know soon, they will be OK.

Thanks!

My Dw and Dd just did the Princess half. We stayed at a host resort and they provided bus transport to and from the race. Traffic is super crazy going to the start, so if you drive, give yourself a lot of time. We saw many people miss their start because of the traffic and they rode the bus!! Disney does a great job with the organization, but there is just a lot going on!! Check the run disney site for tips, especially for the spectators. Have fun!!

I have that weekend booked at the BWV not knowing it was the marathon. Will it be crazy busy at the hotel?

Thanks

The morning of there will be lots of activity. DH did the ToT 10miler last year and we were at BCV (host resort) the buses were fantastic (they also had bussing to the kids races) But for the marathon they start really early so people will be leaving long before most guests are awake. (The ToT started at 10pm)

We were at BWV for the January 2012 1/2 marathon and marathon. It was a blast cheering on the runners over near the entrance of to the International Gateway at the end of the boardwalk. You will see tons of marathoners wearing their medals throughout the parks. We didn't find the Epcot resorts crazy at all as most of the excitement was over by mid morning or so.

I just booked them in SSR. I think it will be easier to have transportation.:goodvibes

Thank you!:thumbsup2
