October 7th The night before....
Well our adventure began at 3.15pm on Friday afternoon as Steve and I picked 2 very excited girls up from school. After lots of well wishes from our close friends who have daughters at the same school we waved good bye to everyone and had the biggest grins on our faces as we walked the 500yrds home!
The girls quickly changed out of their uniforms and we were off on the 60 mile trip to the SAS Radisson at Manchester airport. Now as we dont fly until 1.45pm the following day we had no need whats so ever to travel the night before but as far as Steve is concerned our holidays start as soon as we get to the airport so we might as well get the party started!
What should have been just over an hours journey took almost 2 due to the volume of traffic but were we bothered NO after all we still had almost 2 1 hours to go until our flight went so no need to panic in our car! We hadnt been expecting the journey to take so long so had not put the girls DVD players in the car, however, we enjoyed a few travel games and we were all mega excited to be on our way.
We arrived at the Radisson to take the last parking space at the front glad Steve was driving as I need at least 2 empty spaces to park the tank I mean Galaxy but as usual he glided into what can only be described as a gap! We walked into the hotel and you could see the tension leaving Steve as he was now officially on holiday i.e. no more driving for 2 weeks so wheres the bar!

We went to our rooms as a family room here consists of 2 rooms with an interconnecting door and we were pleased to see we had a runway view as requested. The girls tested every gadget, drawer and light before deciding which room would be theirs - Little did we know this procedure would follow us Florida!
We decided we were all hungry and went down to the restaurant. Now I can remember ordering our meals me Pizza, Steve Fish & Chips and the girls Bangers and Mash, but I also ordered a large glass of wine and Im afraid the rest is a little fuzzy. I think I had a second glass and then I noticed champagne on the menu and I can definitely remember ordering one of those.... well lets just say I may have swayed a little walking back to the room!
I had intended to call my Mum but I knew that this was not a good idea as we already get emotional when saying goodbye so with a drop or two of alcohol this would have been hopeless!
The girls went to bed and Steve and I watched a bit of telly. Well I say we Steve fell asleep before the girls and I ended up watching something on my own have no idea what but I did have two mugs of hot water so by the time I went to sleep I was positively sober!
How you can have a room so close the runway and boarding gates and not hear a thing is beyond me but silence is what we got and we all had a peaceful nights sleep.
