Not allowed to upgrade?

I'm hoping someone can help me with either past experience or at least some advice...

We've finally booked DLRP as our 1st anniversary trip using DVC points as we can't get to WDW this year. It's also our 1st DVC trip

We wanted to look at upgrading to the Castle Club as it's such a special occasion and we're now hitting brick walls. We're not allowed to upgrade apparently because we're DVC!! It's not like we're trying to get a cheap upgrade - we are happy to pay but we can't even find out how much it will cost - we have to 'enquire' when we check in. We're going the first week in December - will that be too late to get a CC room if we want to?

Has anyone else found this kind of problem? We're still really excited about our trip, the upgrade would just make it that bit more special to us.....any advice would be greatly received!!

Unfortunately, your points only get you standard rooms as these are all that are alloctaed to DVC. I don't think DVC have a facility to then accept a cash sum on top to upgrade a room.

All I can suggest is contacting the hotel direct and explaining your situation. They may be able to accept a cash upgrade.

We thought that too - and were more than happy to go direct to the hotel to upgrade for cash....seems the hotel do not recognise our booking as we are DVC members and we will not be 'recognised' until we check in...

Just makes me feel a little unwanted for some reason!! Not quite the same as a welcome home feeling
