Not All Treasure Is Silver And Gold, Mate - *Update 9-17* P60

Kat, you just described why I keep going back to Disney. For one week (more or less), you can relive childhood if you are an adult. For me, I can capture the memories of my parents who never got to take me, but so wished they could have. I walk down the streets in Disney World, thinking of what my mom would have thought of it. And remembering the fact that my parents were gone so quickly before they got to do half of what they wanted to and knowing that it could be any of us any time. Our days are numbered and there is only One who knows that number, so it's up to us to love completely, laugh when it's time to laugh, and live life to its fullest. In the end, we leave behind memories. I expect for most of them to be happy.

You have no idea how much your last post really validates a decision I made today. I have been waffling about a free dining trip - one day I want to go and the next I feel guilty because we should spend more on the house, or go somewhere else, or put more money aside.. . Today my husband said just do it and your post so reaffirms for me why. Every memory and moment in life is precious and we should absolutely create them wherever and whenever we can. For us, many of those moments are made at WDW.

Although your DH scared the bejesus out of me several times, I LOVED that ride. And loved meeting you and your family and especially your mom. In her cute Halloween outfit that your son had designed. :goodvibes

WOW Kat, what an update!! You are so right about so many things!!! I'm so glad you share your thoughts with us!! Meeting you and your mom and the rest of your family is definitely an experience I will never take for granted! I look back so fondly and smile at the friends I have made because of the DIS!!!

Having the carp scared out of me on Pirates, that is also another fond memory!! Your DH scared me silly LOL!!! After my heartrate was back to normal, I was able to laugh and enjoy it for the great moment it was!! Something I will NEVER forget!!

Oh, TK, what a beautiful end to your post! So true and so poignant!

On a happier note, I sure wish there was video of your DH scared our fellow DIS friends! :lmao:

Oh my gosh.

I am blubbering.

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

You are so right. We all never know. And we plan and plan. And we just don't know what is around the corner.

Thanks for the reminder - really - thank you! It is all precious. It is all borrowed time.

That pretty much sums it up for me right there.

I'm sure that your parents are smiling down on you as you take those trips, and that your mom was with you every time you rode Pirates on your last trip.

OMG, believe me. I always think of the things that I "should" do with the money I spend on Disney trips, and far be it from me to judge anyone else's finances, but speaking from personal experience, we always just do it.

I find a way to make it work. We don't eat out a lot, we aren't terribly spendy kind of people, so for me, this is our big splurge every year.

I really need to look more into DVC. :lmao:

:lmao: One of the victims chimes in! ;)

Thank you. It was a pleasure to share that with you, and I'm so pleased that you were able to meet my mom.

Jen, much like I said to Christine, I'm so glad you got to meet my family, but especially my mom. :goodvibes

Another victim steps forward! Glad my DH could create a memorable moment for you, even if it was totally unexpected. :lmao:

Now that would really be something! :lmao:

Hey, Maroo! How are you? I keep meaning to email you and then I get distracted by the five year old or the 7 week old. I hope you enjoyed your trip! :goodvibes

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for reading, for sharing, and for being a part of this trip report.

Thank you for your support when my mom was ill, and during her passing, and thank you for your kind words since.

In the spirit of ending on a high note, I think it's time to let this trip report go. Sure, there's more I could say, and more I could talk about, but I'm reluctant to. I think I'm going to be a little selfish here and keep some of those last moments of this trip for myself and my family, and just be grateful that I was able to write as much of this as I did.

I have started a new pre trip report for those of you who are interested. I can't promise it'll be light-hearted and fun all the time, but it'll definitely be real.

And hopefully, cathartic.

Every time I use that word now I think of Liesa. :lmao:

Any way, there's not much finer way to end than with a ride on Pirates. I think that pretty much says it all.

Thanks for coming along for the ride, and thank you, Mom, for showing me the way. pirate:

And because, I have mutual fondness for that word, and associate it with YOU, I kindly included it in my first chapter of my TR. :lmao: Just for you.

Beautiful, real, and poignant ending to a well-done, yet at times, hard, TR. THANKS, TK- I'll love you forever!

AW! A literary shout out. I really need to make my way over there. Once the baby stops fussing. :lmao: My DIS time is interspersed with younguns' needs, ya know!

Thank you, and right back at ya, babe!

Thanks for sharing your trip with us.:goodvibes

I love how you write and I will be following along with your PTR... I think you said you were starting one right?
