I always thought it strange that there are not really many rides catering to PIXAR characters.

Maybe plan is to create new park around Pixar

What about Turtle Talk at Epcot, It's tough to be a bug at AK, Buzz lightyear at MK?

Kae

Also Monsters Inc.: Mike and Sully To The Rescue just opened at DCA in Anaheim.

Its an interesting thought, and I guess its more likely now, assuming the acquisition goes through. But Disney has stated they have no near-term plans to build another domestic park. It doesn't appear that DCA and AK acheived the kind of financial targets they were looking for when they built them, and they have stated new parks, and even big new attractions will not be their primary focus in their attempts to grow.

If they did build a new park, I guess a Pixar theme could be made to work as well as anything else, but the primary issue would be getting past the idea of it being a kiddie park. Even DL/MK aren't solely based on Disney's animated films. I think a full-fledged "land" would be more likely.

But as Kae said, there are already some Pixar attractions in the various parks.

Buzz in MK and DL.
Its Tough to be a Bug in AK and DCA.
Turtle Talk in Epcot (was this also added at DCA?).
Monsters Inc in DCA.
Finding Nemo Sub ride coming to DL.
The Pixar characters have also been featured in various shows, parades and meetngreets.

Its true, there aren't as many as you might expect given how successful the Pixar films have been. My guess is that's at least in part because of the delicate nature of the relationship between the two companies. Now that the relationship is apparently going to be solidified with the acquisition, we might start seeing more Pixar rides in the future. And hopefully they'll be good ones, with Lasseter apparently having some input/control in that area.

I think they will revamp the entire MGM back section just for Pixar .Lassiter will put his mark back into Disney with his free reign and carefree attitude.I just bought into DVC and this is just the iceing on the cake.

Yup. It's in the Animation Building.

I kind of like the idea of DPA (Disney's Pixar Adventure) replacing DCA. They could bring in some of the old Pixar Shorts, create some slightly edgy Pixar rides (not necessarily around the Disney/Pixar characters), and exploit the Disney/Pixar library.

Two Pixar-decorated rides have also been announced for Disney Studios Paris - a spinning wild mouse coaster themed as Crsuh from Finding Nemo and a spinner themed to Cars. Since both of the rides are off-the shelf ride systems, it's likely they will show up at Hong Kong DL, DCA and WDW as well.

There have been rumors for a while about a robo-coaster themed to The Incredibles for California Adventure. Then there are the hundreds of concepts stuffed in desks at WDI. There's no lack of ideas.

An interesting idea Sara although I think with the Sub ride and Buzz in DL, it may not make sense to the public.

I still think there's a story to tell in DCA if someone is willing to foot the bill to tell it and I personally am a fan of keeping the Synergy in very specific sections of Disney parks.
