A couple of Augusts ago I bought my DW a 1967 Camaro that needed to be restored, for our anniversary.

We finished restoring it a couple of weeks ago. It was a complete restoration, body work, paint, interior, trim and engine work.

Well she had been driving it around for a couple of weeks when it suddenly died on her. She had just dropped 2 of the kids off at Karate and had our DD with her.

Let's make this shorter...turns out that someone put sand in the gas tank. Luckily the fuel filter clogged up and that was the reason for it stalling. However, I now have to go through the aggrivation of pulling the tank and cleaning it out.

You know, at first I was kind of mad, now I'm just really dissappointed in one of our neighbors or one of their kids. It was probably done as a prank and could have been much much worse (for those who would like to know...a little sugar in the tank will seize an engine) but it was still thoughtless.

Thanks for reading and letting me gripe a bit.

Oh, I can sympathize! I live next door to my mom and after my husband and I seperated, I didn't have a car. So, I would just use mom's since she was next door. About two months after my ex left, I went out one morning and someone had cut all of the tires on my mom's car!!   I knew that it had to be my ex or his girlfriend and I felt so bad. I didn't have the money to replace the tires and that was mom's only way to work!

I wish if people had a problem with any of us, they would be mature enough to come to us and not destroy our property!!

Sorry to hear about that Dave, sounds like a stupid prank to me. Hope the process won't be too time-consuming for u to repair.

OT--Sounds like a cherry car me!

Just came back from spending the weekend in Dunkirk with some friends, not too much time to fish though-lol. Where have u & ur wife been? Haven't seen u posting much lately--probably enjoying the summer with ur kids!

I literally gasped when I read what they did to your car.

There's a classic car meet in my hometown every Friday night during the summer. I drive by from time to time and see all the people who take such obvious pride in restoring these cars to their former glory. To think that someone would damage your car as a prank makes me sick. I'm sorry you have to go to all the extra work to make it right.

Glad to see you posting again, Dave, even if it's for an unhappy reason. Regards to Jackie. Have a nice summer.

Karen,
We haven't been posting but we've been around.

Currently these are the projects going on:

Redoing a rental property that my parents own
Putting in new kitchen cabinets in our house
Restoring the camaro
Establishing a new 10 x 40 flower garden
NO FISHING

blah blah blah....by the time we usually make it to the pc we just do the rewards stuff and we're off to bed.

Thanks for the support folks

I STILL love the bouncy guys

Jeez Dave & Jackie, is that all?

I think you forgot the other usual stuffy like carting your kids around & finding new and creative ways to entertain them-lol!

DH says-Duct tape is the answer-only joking!

Have a great summer, now I need to get back to the forest, I mean my backyard & cut the trees, I mean grass-LOL!

So sorry for you. Sounds as if it's time to get a locking gas cap.

DH had something similar happen to him. He has a brand new 2001 330 BMW convertible--his dream car. Someone keyed it while he was at work. The world is full of inconsiderate idiots.

I was wondering what had happened to you two!

Sorry about your car.Man what jerks.

We thought about a locking gas cap but it wouldn't look right in the car....the cap is exposed on the rear of the car and though the car is not a show car by any stretch we would like to keep it looking original.

I do know how inconsiderate people can be. We live in a nicer neighborhood, and now with school being out, the "vandalism" in the neighborhood has increased. There are signs posted at the corners of the neighborhood warning others about things in cars stolen, and this morning I woke to my car sticky from someone throwing a slurpee on it. Oh, and the dent it left is rather a lovely addition to my car. My DH's car gets vandalised all the time. Is that not disgusting? I worked 2 jobs and put myself through school to pay my car off, only to have some brats ~ I know they are teens with nothing better to do ~ destroy the one thing I of value to me right now. It is the only transportation I have to and from work and school ~ buses only run certain hours that don't work for me, and cabs are completely out of the question (I live too far out of town), so it just makes me so mad that people can be so immature to not understand the value behind a vehicle. Sorry, I could go on forever. It just makes me so mad, it's like people are not teaching respect to their kids. Anyways, sorry about your beautiful car. Pranks like that should not go unpunished ~ that is vandalism, and it is a crime.
