Hi Guys got back from Florida today after three great weeks to find that my house has been burgled , not taken much got in through a window which we locked and then took all my jewelry I am so cross , had police around all afternoon and they are coming back to look for prints tomorow . Know those three weeks of stress free holiday sun feels a million miles away .

You poor thing! We were burgled last year and it's the emotional value of the stuff and the fact that people just don't have the right!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your awful plight. Fancy spending three weeks in Paradise (we were out too!), then coming home to that. I really hope they find all your jewellery.

Thank you everyone for your support , both DH and myself had a rough night every sound we heard we though they where coming back , DS who is eleven was very upset I dont think it helped that he had only three hours sleep yesterday . Any way have to phone the insurance company today to get a new window as they dammaged it getting in and as for ther culprits the police have already told us they most likely will never find out who it was or get my stuff back , most of the items where taken where costume jewelry which I can live with but it the personal items that upset me the most knowing there is only a slim chance of seeing them again .

So sorry to hear about your terrible end to your holiday.

Thanks goodness it was costume stuff and not family heirlooms however, to me it would be still frustrating as it's WRONG - but don't get me started on that one!

We had some stuff stolen last summer by a workman we employed - lots of stuff like camcorder, wii games and money from the kids money boxes!. Thankfully the police got prints to prove it was him so now we have court to look forward to in March.

Anyway - I just wanted to add that it might take a while for your son to come to terms with it. My DDs kept asking if "Gordon" was going to come back and steal their other stuff. They asked this quite alot over the following months and personally I thought this was worse part of the offence - stuff taken at the end of the day is just stuff but it's the effect it has. Thankfully they seem over it now.
