Looking for a new Disney World book to pass the time until our next trip. Does anyone know of a good book with more of a history/behind the scenes info kind of feel? Not looking for restaurant tips or how to use fast pass stuff, since we've visited several times. I checked out a few on Amazon, but reviews mentioned they were out of date or just plain wrong. :sad1: Any suggestions?

I like the Imagineering Guides and the Trivia books. They're light reads with lots of fun info.

I second the Imagineering Field Guides for each park - very informative behind the scenes look. I also enjoy the Mousejunkies book - very funny and unique in the realm of guide books.

I second MouseJunkies. It is a guidebook but like you said--so unique. It is not the same old, same old in anyway!

I have this book, which is cool, but mostly pictures, and it's now 16 years old: http://www.amazon.com/Since-World-B...1340201691&sr=8-16&keywords=walt+disney+world

That's one of my favorites. It's a GREAT book, and the pictures are spectacular. It's similar to (but better than, IMHO) the "Disney Mountains" book (which is also pretty good but outrageously expensive on the 2ndary market).

Kurti and Gordon did a sort of "update" to it, called "Walt Disney World: Then, Now, and Forever" (http://www.amazon.com/Disney-World-...d=1340207106&sr=1-5&keywords=Jeff+Kurti)..and while it was good...it wasn't nearly as good as "Since the World Began"

"Vinyl Leaves" is also pretty good. It's less of a coffee table book and more of an exposition on how "the world" was built. It can be a little dry and business heavy in places, but still a really good read.

I know you said you wanted a book about WDW, but if you think you might also be interested in a book about Walt, I just read "An American Original: Walt Disney," and it was fantastic. It's a biography of Walt, and it was full of interesting and funny little anecdotes. It made me both laugh out loud and cry several times. :thumbsup2

I know they're fiction and not history, but what is the name of the series of books that the new Sorcerers of the MK is based on? I blanked on the name- just one more 'senior moment'. sigh.

I'll check this out, too. Thanks!
