What a week!
On Tuesday DH was coming home from an out of town meeting and was about an hour from home when something flew off a semi-truck and smashed into DH's vehicle.
Thankfully no one was hurt.
The semi was hauling demolished cars and evidently part of one came loose. DH drives a 2004 Honda Pilot... the hood, bumper and front right quarter panel were damaged. DH had a passenger and they were so lucky that the object did not go through the windshield, or that they went off the road going 75 mph.
The insurance guy came over today to look at it. We were telling him we would need to get a rental while it was in the shop being fixed because DH needs it for work and I use mine for the day-care kids taking them to pre-school, he tells us no problem.
Insurance guy leaves and DH and decide to go get lunch before he goes back to work. I follow him in my van so that after lunch he can go to work and I will go run some errands. As I was following him my van suddenly lurches and starts making a horrible noise. I called him and told him what was happening and before I could pull over the noise got worse!
He turns around and comes back, find out it won't start again. We called AAA and they sent out a truck and they took it to be looked at. Few hours later we get a call telling us the engine was shot, something about a cracked intake valve, leaking fluid and now it's a goner
It was a 99 Windstar with only 98,000 miles.
So we went from being a 2 car family to a damaged 1 car family in a matter of days. We had been planning to trade the van in May, so I guess that is being moved up, except now we have nothing to trade in
