I'm not writing a full trip report of my "Mommy and Me" vacation, but if you'd like to see some photos of a freak in a hat (that would be me), the Flower and Garden Festival, and a very large Rice Krispie treat, please visit my blog at firstladyofdullsville.blogspot.com . The Disney World posts are on the first two pages of the blog.

All in all, we had a great time. The weekend after Memorial Day proved to be a lull in an otherwise stormy time of year, crowd-wise. . . Memorial Day crowds were gone, many schools were still not out, and Gay Days didn't start until a few days after we left, making crowds very manageable. It did get crowded at times, but by getting to the parks we visited (Epcot and MK) early and utilizing FAST PASS, we avoided most of the larger crowds. The longest we waited was 70 minutes for the new Toy Story ride, because we didn't get to the Studios until the afternoon. Other than that, we waited about 1/2 an hour for Splash Mountain, 20 minutes for Star Tours (had I known it was that long a wait, I would have skipped it this time around--the sign said "5" minutes). In the middle of the day on Sunday, we were still only waiting about 10 minutes at the most for rides like Haunted Mansion and Pirates.

By the way, we both agreed that the time spent waiting for the Toy Story ride was totally worth it. It was SO much fun. My only complaint is that it makes Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin seem very dated. Oh, and I will also complain that my mother beat me at both games!

The Flower and Garden Festival was nice--nothing I'd plan a trip around, but it was fun to explore the topiaries. I felt so mature, spending time in a theme park looking at flowers instead of riding rides!

We stayed at Pop Century. I prefer PC to the All Stars, both because the tax is lower (not a big deal) and they don't share a bus system (big deal). It's also more my style. We were in the 80s, my first choice (and we didn't request anything special) and were overall happy with the resort. We were celebrating my mother's birthday, and "Minnie Mouse" left a signed card and balloons in the room. We didn't need anything fancy, although. . .

We went to high tea at the Grand Floridian. I've always wanted to do this, and it was great. Very relaxing, good tea, good service, delicious little tea sandwiches, scones, pastries, etc. A very nice break from the parks.

A good trip. After a 6-year absence, I was happy to be back in the World.
