Not a big crowd for TOT opening today

We went to the opening of ToT today and were surprised to find that it was not very crowded. The stand-by line never got over 60 minutes while we there. It reminded me a little of the day DCA opened and my wife and I were one of the only ones walking around.

Now don't get me wrong, ToT is a good ride and I'm sure it will bring in more guests and that it will be very popular but I wonder how much affect the ticket price increase ($49.75) and the fact that now DCA is not a "2-fer" anymore. When you buy a ticket to DCA, you can only go to DCA and I just don't know if DCA is going to draw huge crowds having just a few rides.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

BTW- SuperStar Limo and the Hollywood and Dine were still closed today.

It is the middle of the week. I think the real test will be this weekend. The wait supposedly got up to 75 minutes today.

I went yesterday and I saw the wait as long as 75 minutes. Fastpasses went quick, also. Unfortunately in the morning when the park first opened, the machines were having a problem and not taking APs. By the time I realized they were fixed, the return time was 5:00 and I wasn't able to stay that long. The rest of the park was fairly quiet, though and DL was practically empty. It didn't help DL any that Indy broke down and POTC wasn't running. I wanted to ride them both, but I walked onto the HM and the JC (hoping Indy would start up again).

ITA. I will be interested to see the weekend stats.

The funny thing is, in my area the TOT is so highly publicised as opening May 4th.....the message I got was to stay away, not come down immediatly.:D The publicity made me want to go, but wait for a bit first.:earsgirl:

We were there for the opening, arriving at the gates right around opening time for the park, 10:00 a.m. We followed the crowd to ToT, the family stood in line, which was packed the full width of the street, back to about the front of the Hyperion Theatre. I snaked my way up past the crowd to the Fast Pass machines. (the sides of the street were full of tables for the press - which made things a little tighter). When I finally reached the FP machines, the CM was announcing that there was a problem with the machines and they were currently not providing FP's. One guest behind me was getting very angry - chill out folks! I decided I would wait until at least my family caught up to me before giving up (especially since the guests in front of me left and that put me first to get a fast pass when and if they fixed the problem). No more than 3 or 4 minutes passed, and they were up and running again. We got fast passes for 11:15. By then my family had practically caught up to me at the front of the "regular que" for the ride, which said "75 minutes". From the back of the street with the crowds to the actual time we were on the elevator, it was only about 55 minutes. We then doubled back to pick up our ToT pins near the entrance and then it was time to use our FP's to ride again. What a great ride!

Wish they would do a one day hopper tho, or have hoppers like they do in Florida that never expire. That way, you could do just one or two days and save them for the next visit! Or better yet, let the hoppers work on either coast! ??? What do you all think?

Just went this weekend. The longest line I saw was 120 minutes.
