I just read that they are making the restaurant in Norway all Princess all the time...and dinner will be served family style. This is effective as of 4/5/05. Does anyone have more info. I really enjoyed the cold buffet with the hot entrees served plated...are they changing the menu, etc.

Oh, I hope not! I like it the way it is.

Well that will be interesting. I know my daughter will enjoy the opportunity to eat another meal with the Princesses. Of course, if Ariel isn't there, she won't want to eat there.

We usually just stop by the Norway pavillion for the pastries anyway. We haven't ever had the breakfast at their restaurant. Can't wait to see what kind of menu they'll have.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner will all be Princess Storybook meals. Meals will be served family style for all meals. There will be Norwegian food for the adults and American food for the kids. There's more information on Deb site, www.allearsnet.com

Personally, I'm really disappointed in the idea since I'm not interested in going to a Princess character meal(don't have kids) and I really enjoyed this restaurant on my first trip in December to WDW.

Yes I'm dissappointed as well for pretty much the same reasons. I didn't like the plated hot service either, but was still willing to go back again. Not sure this time if it is a Princess Character Meal... Oh well.

Oh I am just so disappointed to hear this. It was the only place DH and I loved to go for an adult meal without the ds. I am not interested in a character experience, we just want peace, quiet, and some good norwegian food. Hmm, looks like Disney will make a buck anyway they can. Guess its the supply and demand type thing. We want more princesses, princesses make disney lots of money!!!Gheesh. Maybe I am selfish, but go send the princesses over to MGM. There are no character meals there.

There is no info on the menu changes and price changes for Dinner...does anyone have that info. Before, you could select what hot food you wanted served and then you could go up to the cold buffet which included peel and eat shrimp...it was a very good deal (part buffet, part plated service). I know many didn't like the hot food plated...I did. I thought the hot food came out better. I am a little worried about family style because my family does not eat red meat, which is usually served at the other family style places. Norway always had a nice selection of seafood, which works well for my family...thoughts

Wow, what a bummer! I liked Akershus just the way it is! Well, we better go eat there one last time...

I think I saw the dinner price of $27.99 for adults, and $10.99 for kids. Don't remember what lunch prices were. I think b'fast stayed the same.

You sit down at your own table- there is a fixed menu. They serve you the menu items in serving bowls and platters at your table. If you run out of something, they will bring you more. Just like Liberty Tree Tavern or Garden Grill. Kinda like 'Ohana. Are you familiar with those places?

no, I am not familiar with those places because my family does not eat red meat and those places always serve it family style on the same plate as my chicken or fish. So those places have never been an option for us...that is why we always ate at Norway because it combined a cold buffet with a plated entree that we selected....I wonder if they can just bring fish and chicken to the table and disregard any meat entree that might be included. Also, does anyone know if they are removing the cold buffet with all those wonderful salads, and especially the shimp and lox. (that was our favorite and main reason...the lox) Lox can be very expensive back home ($27/pound)..so the meal was therefore very good deal when you considered the price of shrimp and lox.

I would think that if you tell the server you don't want red meat, they could bring you just the seafood and poultry.

You know, now that you mention it, I wonder what they are going to do about the cold buffet? Unless they are going to streamline the offerings, and bring out the four or five most popular ones to your table, I can't quite see how they would be able to do this!

I guess we'll have to wait to see how Disney handles this.

So sad that this has happened as Norway was excellent for food, so much for showing the cultures of other countries
Claire :(
