Norway - What Should We Pack?

We have been on two Norway cruises. Defiitely need rain jacket, fleece top or liner, water resistant gloves and hat. Water resistant hiking pants. Wear layers as already noted. Carry a small lightweight umbrella. And if you have shoes with waterproof soles or hiking shoes be sure to bring them. The sidewalks and trails get muddy and slippery. It's beautiful most days but on the days it's chilly or wet, you will be glad you had the right clothes.

We did Norway cruise last June. Can't believe so many didn't bring small umbrellas and raingear. In Stavanger we had all day rain and also in Bergen and were definitely glad to have the appropriate protective and warmer clothing. The first store on the dock in Stavanger must have sold hundreds of umbrellas that day. We packed Gore-Tex raincoats, a wool shirt or light fleece jacket, liner gloves, hat and rain resistant pants. On the excursion out of Geiranger up to Mt. Dalsnibba you will encounter snow and cold temperatures and need the wind protection and warmer layers. Otherwise in the other ports the temps averaged in the 60s.

FYI, if the cruise includes Iceland, do not attempt an umbrella in Iceland. The wind there laughs at umbrellas, before eating them up and spitting them out. Definitely do take waterproof outer layers.
