I was recently reading the Norway menu and the lunch sounded really good! I didn't realize that most of it is plated now. I'm not big on buffets, but the plated choices sounded tasty. Is it worth going just for the food? We're two adults so even tho' we'll probably snap some photos, the princesses do not play into our decision at all. We just like discovering new culinary treats at the World, and it's been ages since we've eaten at Norway since I wasn't impressed by their previous buffet.

WOW!! I get to answer a question for you!! You are a DIS Legend and I value your opinion highly!!

As for Akershus...prices are high for what you get, that is for sure. I would say comparision wise, it is one of the higher ones.

Food - meh. Hard to really say as there were pros and cons.

I am Norwegian and have grown up with the food and did not mind the buffet of pre-meal items. They were mostly fishes and cheeses, flavourful, but distinct. DH was not a fan.

Smaller portions than other places, but not unfilling. We found other portions to be quite large.

Personally, very glad we went, would go back, but also glad we had the dining plan and were not paying OOP. (For example DD's Ravioli was $18.99 - for a 3 year old's meal?!?!)

I would say give it a go.

BTW - DH ordered the BBQ Beef on a Bun he LOVED it!! Said it was one o f the best. I had the Kjortkake, which was kind of an over sized meatball. I would have been disappointed had it not been for the buffet, and DH would have been disappointed if the whole meal was similar to the buffet. So in the end we both thought it was OK.

DD's opinion does not count as she does not eat in when there are characters to obsess over ;)

We have not done the table service, but just this past Thursday we ate at the counter service and it was MARVELOUS! We got the lamb and chicken plates and boy it was just great. :) Happy eating!

I've had lunch at Akershus twice and enjoyed it both times. I had the Kjortkake based on the server's recommendation and I really liked it. DH liked the salmon. I loved the dessert tray too - delicious!

We ate there last year at DH's request because he wanted to try the food (it was not to see the princesses). We liked the cold buffet with salads, meats, etc., But we did not like the entrees at all. DH had some kind of lamb and did not like it; I had the traditional meal (I forget the name of it) which is like a meatloaf and thought it was fair at best.

We ate there on 9/20. Based on the menu online prior to going, I was not impressed with the choices. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the menu had changed. Like a PP, I got the BBQ sandwich (delicious). DD got the $19 Mickey ravioli. Once tasting it, she didn't like the sauce, but our wonderful server, Anita, brought her another bowl sans sauce.

We did the buffet dinner with the cold meats/seafood a few years ago and we had a bad experience, well, I should say a few of us dining there had a bad experience. When we first got there a little kid vomitted after he ate. About 10 minutes later an adult with a different party did the same thing. DW and I both got bad stomach cramps a little later that evening. Something was definetly not cooked right as that's too many coincidences in one restaurant. Never again.

Do you remember how the menu has changed? We are having dinner there in December and I'd love to know what is on the new menu. I was thinking about having the salmon, do you know if that is still on the menu? Also, my understanding is that there is a buffet for salad-type items... more like the appetizer portion of the meal, and then a plated entree... is that right?
