Northwest price increase

Last week I booked 4 tickets for my family from Detroit to Orlando for $150 each. Now my mom might join us, so I just checked the prices and it's gone up to $440 for the same flight less than a week later. I know prices fluxuate all the time, but does anyone know why it might go up soooooo much? I don't think I've ever see flights from Detroit to Orlando so high.

I can't tell you WHY they go up and down. However I CAN tell you that when we booked our flight with NW, it was after watching a lot of ups and downs. I hesitated to purchase when the tickets were at $200 each (buying for 5 of us), only to watch them jump to $350. They did end up going back down to $200, and I jumped on them.

I think a lot of it depends how far out your trip is. Just keep checking every couple of days.
