We just bought round trip airline tickets for 8 Adults for April 30th-May 8th. Great times(more time to play, 7am departure-5:20pm return) leaving Detroit Metro to Orlando last week for $206.00 per ticket, Just looked today and out times are not even showing just yuckie times (for us) but the tickets are now $284.50 round trip. I was so close for waiting last min. for lower rates but was too worried about all that's going on and I am so glad I did now. Saved $628.00 WOW!! That's Crazy, and we got our dparture and return times that we wanted!

Hi,
I just bought my tickets today and called just in time. I have been checking the prices on travelocity and noticed that today they jumped up another 250 dollars (for 5 tickets). I went to www.nwa.com and their tickets were 288.50 each, I had problems buying them online so I called northwests 800 number and the operator gave me a price of 350 something. I told her that I just saw them online for 288.50 and she said that was the only price she had, I hung up and called back and got another operator who was able to give me the 288.50 price and while she was putting the info in the PC she mentioned that her PC was doing "something screwy" and it seemed the price had just went up to 350.00. I was able to lock in all 5 tickets at 288.50. I live in Petoskey and will be flying out of traverse city, switching in detroit and going to orlando from there. We are going to be in disney from May 7-13th. The operator said something about the prices going up because of "gas surplus" or something like that. Our gas prices here in petoskey are outrageous, 1.79 a gallon.

Kim, Were in Sterling Heights MI and I justed pumped gas for 178.9 a gallon so were about the same. The ticket price hike is Crazy! I truly thought they were going to go down but I got scared and bought last week.. And since I am paying for all 8 Adult tickets, I lucked out! (we opened our mouths last Christmas and told all the grown children and spouces and one girlfriend of my son that we would take them to WDW for their Christmas gift. Won't be doing that again! Had to get 3 rooms and I know we will be feeding them all.. DH, said just him and me next vacation! Stay warm because it's FREEZING here, so I know it's got to be COLD where you are. Take Care and God Bless!

Its very cold here. Its 4 below right now. I dont think we have seen it above 20 in 2 weeks. It was very sunny today. My poor dog goes out for a few minutes and then he is right back in the house. I noticed if he is out more then a few minutes he starts to hold his paw up. Im sure he is cold so I dont keep him out very long.

I'm so looking forward to Orlando. Its -31 c here tonight
and our gas works out to over $3.25 a gallon today.
Cost me $45 for 1/2 tank.

Makes you wonder where these gas prices are going? I hope that the airlines come down for the sake of keeping this economy going..

Unfortunately I just read another thread about flight costs
increasing because of rising oil and gas prices. I just checked
Air Canada and my exact flight is $250 per person CDN more
than when I booked in December.

My husband said to add on a few days to our vacation and just drive this year. For 5 plane tickets I'm getting quotes of about $1,450 last I checked, plus we always rent a car so thats another $300 to $350. Last May we flew Continental for $621 round trip for all 5 of us!!!(DS was under two at that time and half price)

MOM_RULES,

Thank Goodness you bought those tickets in Dec. Boy even the gas in my car is like Guzzling Water with Champagne Prices. I wonder how this will effect WDW this Year?
Keep Warm..
and
ROBINETTE,
I can't Blame you1 WOW! $1450.00 for 5 tickets are crazy, (unless seats are up in first class) !! Let's hope and Pray that these hikes go the other way!! Down..

Boy, I so totally agree-Nobody will be able to
afford to travel if this keeps up.

Chatty,
The $1,450 for 5 tickets was definitely not first class. Just for fun I checked on how much that would be...$4,252!!!
$1450 is looking pretty good to me now;)
I knew that deal I got last May was something I'd never see again.

You got a great price on those NW flights--you must have the flight #432 or is it #428--can't remember--it's our favorite flight time--out at 7 and in MCO by 9:30 a.m. We haven't taken that flight in years because I can never hit a good rate for it. Each time I checked on it the price was $286 and up to $350. Maybe one of these years I'll get lucky.

Of course, it's closer for us to go to Toledo (and the smaller airport is much more convenient), but we'd certainly prefer a straight shot to that plane change in Cincy.

Congrats on the get! BTW, we paid $211 for ours AND they are now running upward of $300!

Khawk--I feel your pain about the weather. . .we lived in Gaylord for 15 years! You folks can have "God's Country"! Way too much snow for us (although it's been cold down this way as well). I think I saw enough snow in those 15 years to last me a lifetime. Give me 90º and humidity any day. . . :)

I'll take the high humidy and 90 degrees anyday also. I hate the cold weather. My ex husband somehow talked me into living up here and now because of the custody situation Im stuck here until my kids are 18. 9 more years. It is starting to warm up. It got up to 34 today (above 0) and right now it is 30 degrees. After being below zero for a few weeks, 30 feels like a heat wave. I cant believe some of the prices you people are quoting for plane tickets. I obviously dont fly very often because I thought 1450 for 5 plane tickets was a good deal. That was the deal I got originally from travelocity, then the price went up another 50 bucks per ticket. I ended up calling northwest and getting my tickets directly from them and paid 1440 for 5 round trip tickets from traverse city to orlando with 1 layover in detroit. I was happy to get that price because if I would have literally called 5 seconds later the price would have been 1750. It seems the prices on travelocity kept jumping up and down for awhile and I saw them at one point for almost 2000 for 5 tickets (not first class).

When we lived in the big G, we flew from Cherry Capital once--as I recall it was around $350 per person on American/American Eagle. We did the 20 minute or so puddle hop to ORD and on from there to MCO--that was a long time ago--it was the same weekend of the Nicole Simpson/Ron Goldman murders--OJ flew in later that weekend. In fact, we ran smack into Magic Johnson on that trip too. My husband was so busy celebrity gawking we darn near missed our connecting--20 minutes from the commuter terminal to the main isn't nearly enough time with 2 little kids!

So, based upon those old prices, you did get a good deal on travel from nearby! Beats the heck out of that drive from Petoskey to Metro--which we've also done in the past. I've seen some really good rates from Lansing and/or Flint at times--you might keep them in mind for your next visit! ;)

We're headed back north this weekend--ugh! It's good to see friends, just hate that weather! It's supposed to be 46º later in the week down our way. . .and I've got to go north!

Bring up the snowmobiles and the skis. We are about 6 hours from detroit and I dont think I would want to leave my car there for a week. 6 hrs is just to long a drive and the money we spend in gas to get there, its just cheaper to fly out of TC. I could have flown out of pellston but it was more expensive then TC. I have flown out of TC a couple of times and it is a nice airport. I used to live near flint, in linden. That is where my ex is from and we lived there for a summer before we got married. I have flown into that airport once and it was ok. But flint is still 4 1/2 hours from us. Not sure I would want to leave my car there either. The weather seems to be warming up here, its 7am and 25 degrees already. Even with all this cold weather beware of the ice on the lakes, if you plan to be on them. My ex almost put his 4 wheeler through the ice a few days ago, according to the kids. Of course I dont think people should be driving vehicles on the ice I dont care how thick it is. Im a native New Yorker and I feel so trapped up here. I cant wait for summer. I cant wait to go to disney, I think Im more excited then the kids. We will be there for the flower and garden festival and my mom just about flipped when she heard that paul Revere and the Raiders were going to be there. She hasnt been there in 30 yrs. (when I was 5) and my dad has never been there. (my parents are coming with me and the kids) and my dad is excited also, he is acting like a little kid. Its so funny.

Tess!!
Great Job on those ticket prices..Hey TESS and KHAWK, (KIM) I heard were in for a Heat Wave!! 38 or 40 sounds good to me! But they say after a few days of warmth were back to the sub zero yuck!!
TESS:
You are GOOD, How the heck would you remember the 432 plane number! Good Mind!
Kim, I loved our small weekend vacation in Petoskey. But it was summertime. I think I brought home a pocket full of petoskey stones. But we had a great time. Beautiful but far. Were going to be their for the Flower show too. What are your dates? Maybe we'll bump into each other there?

Kim! Good job on getting your tickets too. I always go right through Northwest. Seems I usually get a decent price.
Enjoy the WARMTH you TWO, because it's going away in a few days.. Take Care..
