Has anyone ever flown Northwest's Airlink jet airliner?? I have a tiny fear of flying and wanted to know if anyone's ever been on one. We'll being flying from Philly to Memphis on one...ahhhh!

Thanks!

Yep,

We fly Northwest Airlink all the time. We usually fly from Memphis to Pensacola on them and from my hometown to Mpls on them. I actually like the smaller planes better than the huge jets.

However, they use several different types of planes.

Go to NW.com and check out the different types available.

Also www.seatguru.com has some info on NW planes.

Don't worry, the planes are quiet and comfortable.

Thanks herc, great link! We'll be flying on the ARJ. We ususally fly USAir so this is a bit of a change for me (we used Priceline to purchase tickets)...knowing me, I'll be sweating it for the next 5 months until we fly!

You'll be fine!

We usually fly CRJ and the ARJ. Every NW airlink I have been on has been on time and loads fast. The attendants also are usually friendlier than on the big planes. Only one attendant on the airlink.

The memphis airport isn't very big, so it's easy to get around. However, if you have to eat there, the food is pricy. We usually eat at the pizza hut restaurant called the Plane Bar. Hard to find any food besides bbq places to eat there.

Yes, Memphis Airport is small, compare to all the rest of the big airports. Northwest is a major hub in Memphis, and work in all the concourses. There is really not that much you can eat. There is Pizza Hut, Subway, Interstate BBQ, Corky BBQ, KFC, McDonald, Basking Robins, and some more, but dig the money out, because they are high. My advise is to pick the food, before you go the airport.

Yup, fly/flowen it tons between NYC & Minneapolis.

Never a problem. The planes aren't that small. The one I always have has about 30 rows, 5 seats accross (2 & 3).

NW Airlink is a subsidiary of Northwest but are owned separately by another corporation (Pinnacle Airlines or Mesaba Airlines). They handle the shorter flights with the smaller planes (CRJ and ARJ). My husband works for Pinnacle (out of Detroit), and from what I've seen and read, they get better reviews/compliments than most of the regular Northwest flights. Pinnacle is very big on customer service, so I don't think you'll have any problems.

Thank you all for your replies. I'm feeling much better now! I guess I was picturing a charter plane with props:( . It seems as if everyone is very complimentary towards this airline.

Thanks all!

Actually the NWlink(Mesaba ) I had out of Minn to Peoria was a Turbo/Prop. The attendant we had on that flight was very friendly and loved to Chat...

You should be fine....
