Northwest Airlines and golf clubs?

My husband wants to bring his golf clubs to WDW (standard size bag and clubs in a hard-shell carrier). Has anyone else ever done this with NWA? Was it considered oversized? I know it can't be over 50 lbs., but unsure about the dimensions.
We've taken them with no problem on several other airlines, but never with NWA.
Anyone know?

Silly me, I hadn't thought to look there. I was on hold for about 10 minutes w/NWA to ask them and finally gave up.
