Alright, so we purchased the plane tickets for our 10/23/05 cruise from www.spiritair.com on 2/25/2005. Fare was as follows:

10-22-2005 - Leave DTW 740am - Arrive MCO 1020am
10-27-2005 - Leave MCO 630pm - Arrive DTW 910pm

Total price per person including taxes: $206.90.

HOWEVER, today I get an email stating that our return segment which was scheduled to depart MCO for DTW *originally* leaving at 11:45am has now been switched to 6:30pm.

So, DW tells me that she's rather not spend the day in Orlando and would prefer me to check around other airlines. I remember looking at booking with Northwest in February was at least $360 a ticket when I checked. With the recent publications of fare hikes and stuff I figured it was a lost cause and that we were going to be stuck sitting around in Orlando unless we wanted to pay huge amounts to switch. I knew we would get a full refund with Spirit so we'd have just over $400 to put towards whatever we got but was still unsure.

I just booked the following on Northwest:

10-22-2005 - Leave DTW 855am - Arrive MCO 1133am
10-27-2005 - Leave MCO 130pm - Arrive DTW 411pm

Price per person in *FIRST CLASS FOR BOTH SEGMENTS* is $330.90. :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

So, for an extra $124 a ticket, we're getting the flights we want, we're getting the airmiles credit, and we're getting first class.

A hell of a deal if you ask me. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

That is a great deal!! I am suppose to come home (MI) for Thanksgiving - I think I will take a look right now and see if I can get something similar! But the Red Wings better be playing by then!!!!!

That is great. I can't believe NWA actually beat another airline in price. I am going from MN to Chicago next week and they are double the price from United, AA and others. NWA always seems to be higher. Being in MN, you would think they would be cheaper because it is their home base.

Hi: My DH and I will be on the 9/3/05 Magic. We paid $167.00 each for round trip DTW-MCO on Spirit. Although we are leaving MCO later in the afternoon on 9/10, we are picking up a rental car at Cocoa Beach when we disembark.

I was on the 6/16/05 Wonder with friends, and we booked a day rate room at the MCO Hyatt on 6/19/05 for $80. We had a late afternoon Spirit flight to DTW. That helped pass the time as we had an 8 year old.

Congrats! I love Northwest because they have always been so nice about upgrades and travel changes. We used to live in Japan so I have a ton of frequent flyer miles with them. On a recent trip to Alaska they upgraded my family of five to first class for only $500. The supervisor offered it to me because I told her I was feeling tired. I have travelled a lot and no other airline has been so kind. One time a supervisor in Detroit was really rude to me when I was connecting flights. I called to complain and they asked me if I was going to be flying again soon. I said no, but my mom was going to be visiting me in Japan. The supervisor upgraded my mom to first class, ROUND TRIP, to Japan. Amazing.

Enjoy the extra room and service and have a GREAT cruise! :cool1:

That $248 could go towards passports for your twins when you take the DCL Alaskan cruise in 2013....

Great deal! I am flying NWA to Vegas in 2 weeks then taking SWA from Vegas to John Wayne. Flying home from John Wayne on NWA. Total cost including the SWA leg is $320 per person! That can't be beat!

To OP: great deal! DH and I flew 1st class from San Juan to Cleveland after our honeymoon on a free upgrade (we asked, they had, we got). Now I only wish we had the $$$$ to fly 1st class every time, got spoiled big time :cool1:
