SEATTLE, Washington (AP) -- Margaret "Peg" Phillips, a retired accountant who took acting classes at age 65 and won fame as the tart-tongued shopkeeper Ruth-Anne Miller in the television series "Northern Exposure," has died. She was 84.

That was one of the most original TV shows ever produced and a personal favorite of mine. Sounds like her off-screen persona was just "Ruth-Ann" too!

I am so sad to hear about her passing. I loved Northern Exposure and all its kooky characters.:(

Northern Exposure was one of my favorite shows. I loved the characters, quirks and all. I am very sorry that Ruth Ann has passed away.

That is one of my favorite shows of all time. Her character was great, and she was so wonderful.:(

I loved that program and I was especially fond of the Ruth Ann character.

I'm sorry to hear of her death :(

:(

She's a local here, I used to run into her at the grocery store and saw a couple of her local theater troupe productions. She was always very friendly. :(

I'm sorry to hear that peg has passed away. I liked her character.

I loved this show. It always made me want to move to Alaska. I used to work with a guy who went to the filming of the show in Washington state (It was really filmed there). He got to actually meet some of the characters.:D

Ruth-Anne is gone, very sad!:(

I didn't see this show that much but I always enjoyed "Ruth Ann" when I did. I'm sorry to hear of her passing.
