North Conway Vacation things to do? Dining recomendations

We will be taking a 3 day trip to North Conway with our 2 year old. Staying at the North Conway Grand. We will be going to storyland, but we are looking for other things to do to keep us busy also places to eat would be so helpful. TIA

Drive up Mt.Washington.

There's a very good pizza/Italian restaurant in Conway, it's attached to an inn, I can't remember the name. If you are driving on the main drag through Conway/N.Conway it's on the left.

If you head toward Loon Mountain I think they have some sort of summer amusement park type thing.

The N.Conway scenic railroad is a good way to kill some time.

As far as restaurants go: Horsefeathers on the north end of the Main St is good.

the muddy mouse has good food.
Santas Village in Jackson is kind of a drive but also fun, gorgeous location in the mountains.
There is a train place
Tuckermans is another place with good food.
walking around the old north conway area is fun. Ben and Jerrys, a little park, the scenic railway train. Zebs old fashioned store, the treasure box toy shop, the penguin gallery ( gift shop) some funky hippy stores (sugar magnolias) the life is good store.

not sure if you would do it with that young of a child but canoeing down the sacco river is cool.

there are many national forest locations for day hikes. many people innertube in the rivers.

The Glen Junction restaurant is great- coming from SL, take a right at the light, it's right there. It's a little crowded in there, but the food was awesome, very family friendly. (Plus they have a playroom upstairs to use while waiting your turn for a table.)

A heads up if you've never been, too- SL has a policy if it rains heavily (I think more than a 1/2 hour), you can get tickets to go back another day. We were there last week, and now have passes to return another day too.

There is an alpine slide just up the road from SL at Attitash, your DD could ride with one of you. (You do have to take a chair lift up though, so judge if you're ok with that! Get their EARLY though, or later in the afternoon. Midday lines are awful! They also have a couple small waterslides intended for the under 10 crowd.

Be forewarned too, traffic getting out of SL at closing, esp towards Conway, is TERRIBLE. Either leave early, or plan to hang out in the parking lot a bit.

Do you mean the Flatbread Pizza Company? That's located at the Eastern Slope Inn. We stayed there a year and a half ago. My parents go to N.Conway every September and they LOVE the Flatbread Pizza. Our favorite breakfast spot was Peaches. Soooo yummy!

for a 2 year old my best story land advice is go the first day at 3pm. the park is less crowded and if you get stuck at the tree slide its okay. You can then come back for free the next morning.

We stayed at the North Conway Grand last summer. Its a nice hotel. We ate at the hotel restaurant one night, it was OK, not terrible but not great. We also ate dinner one night at a pizza place which was out the back of the hotel in the factory outlet shops. It was really good. Lots of chain restaurants if you need a back up plan. We drove to the top of Mt Washington one day, that was quite an experience but beautiful when we got to the top. We also drove through the White Mountains bypass and stopped along the way. Beautiful.

We are hooked on The Red Fox Grille in Jackson. Excellent food and family friendly. They have some really unique and good sandwiches, and their woodfired pizzas are fantastic
For a really unique atmosphere, and good food, try the Muddy Moose.
The pizza place I think suzannews is talking about is Brandlis. Very good option if you want something within walking distance. Lots of variety beyond pizza.
One thing I would caution you, restaurants in Conway fill up fast. Plan to eat either early or late.
Don't forget about the outlet shopping. You can walk from the Grand into Settler's Green. And if the little one gets tired of shopping there's a great kiddie area to blow off steam.
I second the suggestion to start at Storyland after 3 and go back free the next day. Santa's Village is also a great option, but there's no very direct way to get there from Conway; the best bet would be to take 302 through Crawford Notch into Twin Mountain, and then take a right onto 3, followed by a right onto 115 then a left onto 2. It would take at least an hour though.

My son is 2, and some of the stuff he really liked in Conway was the train (Conway Scenic Railroad), the park near the train, and Zeb's.

As far as restaurants, there are a bunch of good ones. UpCountry is pretty good, and so is the Muddy Moose (but it tends to have a longer wait). Rafferty's Restaurant and Pub is pretty good, and has an AWESOME gluten free menu. We really enjoyed just finding a place that did sandwiches and having a picnic somewhere.

Another spot to go for food is the Riverstone bakery. It's right on 16, just after you turn to head for North Conway (where the Dexter Shoes used to be). It has the most incredible cakes and stuff I've ever had. We will actually go a ways out of the way to make sure we stop there.

Wow everyone thanks for the advice. I was thinking of hitting storyland our 1st night there and then again the next day that way we can sneak out around 3.

I have heard great things about the Muddy Moose and I think the Munchkin would like it and I also heard about peaches so I will add those to our list. I am thinking I will have to hit the railroad although he is going to see thomas the train the day before we leave. So much to think about.

Anything on the way from MA we should stop and see?
