We went for a weekend last summer and fell in love with the huge lake and unbelievably clear water. We stayed with friends who knew the owner of a place...LOL. It was in Maynardville. On the main channel just off it actually. Perfect.

Looking to go again this summer with the kids [last was adults only]. What areas do you recommend? I'm thinking it would be nicer to be closer to I75 as we live in Indiana and it's a HIKE. Would love walking or biking trails as the hills would be scary for my kids who are used to FLAT Indiana. But not a huge deal as we'll be boating most of the day time....

We only went to the restaurant near us [BEACH ISLAND resort] as each couple cooked a dinner at the house. So ideas for a nice family meal ? Thanks.

I only live a few miles from there and my DD24 is getting married in the park in July, so I know a bit about it. They rent rustic cottages near the dam and also have bigger houses above the dam. They DO book up early, so don't wait too long. You would be only minutes from I75. There are also several mid-priced hotels at the Norris/Clinton exit if you don't want to stay in the park.

Our favorite restaurant nearby is Golden Girls, which is about a mile on the other side of the Interstate. It's the kind of food I grew up on.

Be sure to visit the Museum of Appalachia while you're there and also check the schedule for music in the park. They usually have free music at least one day a week.

Knoxville is only a few miles away, too, as is Oak Ridge. Oak Ridge has a very nice Children's Museum and an interesting Museum of Atomic Energy. Knoxville has a nice art museum and lots of music.

Pigeon Forge and Dollywood is only about an hour away.

Let me know if you have other questions and I'll try to find an answer. If you know the approximate dates, I can steer you to any events I know about.

what a pretty place to get married! Congrats to you and your DD.

We visited the dam on our way out last time. It was a pretty area.

I'm all about vrbo so I'll look into rentals around there.

Thanks for suggestions. I'll look into them. The museum is on the list. :thumbsup2 Thanks!
