I like this quote (Washington Post article) - Norman lear is turning 100 and when asked about the meaning of life said this -

“Yes, the meaning of life can be expressed in one word: tomorrow.” What pieces of advice does he have that stand out above the rest? “There are two little words we don’t pay enough attention to: over and next. When something is over, it is over and we are on to next. Between those words, we live in the moment, make the most of them.”

There's a great HBO documentary that has Lear, Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, Dick Van Dyke and others. It's about how to have longevity and also be productive and happy: "If You're Not In The Obit, Eat Breakfast."
